This is a song about the times when you meet a girl under bizarre lighting and you play a song, say something vaguely philosophical and then she leaves but it's actually okay because you are all deep and philosophical and cool. It's called sad song because it's a sad song about a sad song. Very sad.

This song is about 34.32% tongue in cheek.

[la la la hook]

I met a girl last Friday night
Under neon and incandescent light
She asked me if I'd come along
And if I'd play her a sad song, a woah woah

(I said)

We're two in seven billion on this big old world
Which is one of countless trillions or so I've been told
I told her that I didn't have long
And then I played her a sad song, a woah woah

[la la la hook]

She told me that she had to go
I guess I played my song too slow
I never saw that girl again
But really some moments they never end, a woah woah

We're two in seven billion on this big old world
Which is one of countless trillions or so I've been told
I guess I'll wait for the next one to come along
And then I'll play her a sad song, a woah woah

A woah, woah.....

And maybe then she'll sing along
And dance with me 'till the stars are gone
I need someone who can sing in tune
Maybe someone who looks like you (gasp sounds)

[la la la hook]

This totally works for me as is, and I definitely hope to hear it set to music. You're working on that, right??? I reserve the right to find fault when it's done.  :P ;D

Thanks for the kind words! I actually have music already set, I wrote this by just singing random stuff over a guitar riff I made up and it kinda turned into some quasi-philisophical story about a girl

Recordings will come in a few months when I return to my homeland haha

I just realised that I'd just read another set of your lyrics earlier. I really like how you put your words together. They flow well and tell a story. I liked the tongue in cheekness and I had to laugh at played my song too slow :P is a good line! Another one I am looking forward to hearing set to music

Nice work mate...I'll be on the look out for more

Regards
Darren

This reads like an easy flow rock song, playing free guitar just to get your free flowing "woah woah" into it, nice one  8)

Hey Jon,

This is great - flows really well and some really clever lines and rhymes.  No nits whatsoever, and can't wait to hear it set to music.  Should be good.

Hi Jon,

This hooked me right in the first two lines:

"I met a girl last Friday night
Under neon and incandescent light"

And flows beautifully from there on in... and in the last verse, wistful and cheeky in the same breath!

Fab.

Best,

John
