Can anyone recommend a good reliable CD burner for an iMac?

I bought a cheap (£12 or so) Chinese thing a few months ago,but it's not up to the job.

Anecdotal evidence welcome. AyeThankQ.  :)

I tend to transfer the file to a laptop and burn from there if I need to, I've got an iMac too. It's not the most efficient solution but it's the cheapest as I've already got the laptop.

I think apple do their own version called a SuperDrive, or they did a while back. If you're after plug and play reliability it's probably your best bet. Won't be cheap though from Apple.

iMacs don't have CD drives anymore? :o

Good job I am broke otherwise I would have to fork out for all kinds of gubbins they don't put in computers anymore :D My (used) mac pro has one, but honestly I can't say I've ever had a bad one, even in a cheap computers. Maybe you got unlucky?

When I'm buying anything computer related, I usually look it up on amazon and read the reviews first, so I avoid buying anything that's obviously garbage. Maybe this would increase your chances of success next time?

Yeah,I did that last time and the reviews seemed good enough, better than the much dearer Apple. I suppose it comes down to pot luck. I was kind of hoping there would be folk to swear by their choice.  :D
