Believe it or not, this one was inspired by this forum and the thought that we're all connected  ;D
I have some very sucky music written for it  ;D
Comments R welcome!

Kindred Souls
Copyright © 2017 Tennyson Road Music

I can see the mothers grieving
For the sons that war has stolen
I can see their faces weeping
Searching for a kindred soul

Kindred souls across the ocean
Kindred hearts across the seas
Kindred minds sharing the notion
That this world can live in peace

Father's pain is hot and vengeful
Sends his soldiers to the scene
But he can found a revolution
By shutting down his war machine

Kindred souls across the ocean
Kindred hearts across the seas
Kindred minds sharing the notion
That this world can live in peace

Can you feel the tie that binds us?
Can you hear the freedom song?
We can leave this hate behind us
Count on love to make us strong
..make us strong..

Kindred souls across the ocean
Kindred hearts across the seas
Kindred minds sharing the notion
That this world can live in peace

Kindred minds waiting and hoping..
That this world
Can live in peace

Beautiful.   I am (you probably noticed) a huge fan of peace songs to begin with.  LOVED the chorus.  Liked the verses a lot.  (they aren't supposed to be as strong as the chorus, so I'm not supposed to like them as much.)

This really sang with a lot of drama without working hard for a tune.  Lots of ways to sing this.  Lots of GOOD ways to sing this.

It's got huge potential to make a good song.

Of course, on the down side, there is literally no market for a song that has meaning and/or challenges the status quo (at least in the U.S.)  Music currently belongs to the war hawks and the drum beaters (again at least in the U.S.)

But that is what makes it soooooo important to keep writing peace songs.  Sooner or later, I'm convinced they will again make a difference.

Gets  my vote Paul, an excellent write. I hope the music is up to the quality of the lyrics.

I am also a fan of songs promoting peace. I am, after all, a child of the sixties...flower power and all that....

Seemingly lots of members writing about peace and harmony at the moment, but this one of the best I've read. I noticed one typo: found/find.  No nits at all, and looking forward to hearing it.

I am also a follower of the peace movement and have written some myself but this is a very good write and i can't wait to hear the outcome of the song.

Cheers

A nice, simple chorus that isn't cliche

I don't know why but I got a strong "Imagine" vibe... No idea why

Great write

Same rhyme pattern and sylable count perhaps. Possibly one of the best anti poverty songs written on a zillion dollar piano ever.

That is really powerful. It reminds me of some war poetry that I've read. Also sounds a bit like a Bob Dylan song.

Brilliant.

Hey everyone - thanks for reading and commenting!  ;D
Nice to see the lyrics section is still active.

@hardtwistmusic Hi Verlon - thanks for the kind comments. Funny I hadn't even thought about it being a "peace song" until you mentioned it even though it so obviously is. You're right about songs not having much meaning these days too.

@diademgrove - thanks Keith. Hard to say if my music can cut the muster though  ;D

@CaliaMoko Cheers Vicki - Are you going to San Francisco with flowers in your hair?  ;D ;D

@Mike67 - thanks Mike! BTW found is not a typo - it's an old verb for starting a movement (founding fathers  ;D) plus it rhymes with "down"  ;D ;D

@Royston thank you - very kind of you to say that.

@JonDavies ha I was a bit worried about cliché in this so glad to hear that! "Imagine" is a great song with a great message - I'll take the comparison anyday  ;D ;D

@RadicalPosture - Bob Dylan wrote some great songs - thanks for that comment!

Hi Paulski... if I can be selfish for a moment, your lyric is a great lesson for me in terms of structure and hook. Love it!  ;D
