I wrote this lyric as a kind of gospel/blues thing, but I have no plans for it.  If anyone wants to take it on, feel free.

Mike

Sing Hallelujah

No. No. No. No. No.
Sing Hallelujah.

There’s a fear inside your soul
There’s a fear inside your soul
That fear is the Devil
And the Devil’s taking hold

No. No. No. No. No.
Sing Hallelujah.

He put a rifle in your hand
And he showed you how to aim
Helped you pull the trigger
But he left you with the shame
Sing Hallelujah

If you can justify the action
You can justify the pain
If it’s justified maybe it’s alright,
But the Devil wins again.
Sing Hallelujah

Now every time you stray
Every time you stray from the road
When you fear the Devil
The Devil’s taking hold
When you’re on your knees
When your strength has gone
Just close your eyes
And you’ll hear the song

Sing Hallelujah x 4

There’s a light inside your soul
There’s a light inside your soul
That light is going to guide you
And it’s gonna bring you home
It’s gonna bring you home (to fade)

I've got a what I reckon is a solid chord progression and melody for it. Want me to record it and pm it to you?

Rarely do I venture into this lyrics section and that's because other people's lyrics don't usually speak to me. Not because they're not any good but because I'm a music first type of person and I don't usually get any ideas from reading a page of words.

For some reason though these have grabbed me and I started sing the melody on the first read.  I've just recorded it into my phone and I think I might have a bash at this as soon as I've got time.

I'll let you have a listen if I get round to finishing it.

Thanks for sharing these, they're very good.

Jeez, looks like I wasn't even in the lyrics section. ::)

I don't know if I need more medication or less!

Interesting to see whether it sounds anything like the tune I wrote it too.   Very much looking forward to hearing it.

Just to let you know,

I've started having a go at this.

It's taking me in a direction that my lyrics don't normally lead me. I wonder where I'll end up...

Somewhere worthwhile I hope. Whatever you come up with will be different to what I imagine, but good that it isn't what you originally imagined either. Makes it more interesting? Everyone one the forum would no doubt come up with something slightly different.

Hi Mike,

Here's what I've come up with. I hope it does your lyrics justice.

My intention was that it was going to be just raw piano and vocal but as usual I got carried away. I'm not 100% happy with the final mix but this is it for now.

I've kept it kind of bluesy. I originally wanted to go more down the Gospel route but it's too difficult to pull off without a choir, for me anyway.

I had to tweek one line to get it to fit sorry, I tried to keep it as close as possible though.

Let me know what you think, good or bad and if you pm me your real name, I'll credit you properly on it.

I might pop it on 'finished songs' if you're happy with it.

Yo man, this is sweet, absolutely brilliant. You should repost to finished songs.

Landed, mate. Landed.
