I do it all the time, and I steal lines from all over the place: poems, newspaper headlines, other songs, books, tv shows, political speeches... I wrote an entire song using only quotes from a book once Hound of the Baskervilles). Nothing is safe 👹

Elliott, Guest, Poe, Kipling, to name but four but if you're after true inspiration (and sometimes a good laugh) I recommend some  Charles Bukowski

It's not so much poetry I like in songs, but quotes instead :-\
