Hey all you wonderfully talented musicians, anyone fancy having a crack at composing something for the following lyrics along the lines of a good old stripped back protest song?

BROKEN TOWN

Verse 1
The sun don't shine
On this broken town
Halcyon days are no more
Where it once wore a smile
It now wears a frown
Longing for what came before

Verse 2
A shining example
Of the benefit state
Lost in the north south divide
An  illustrious past
Now drenched in hate
It's demise it can no longer hide

Chorus
Oh broken town
I walk these streets
No longer paved with gold
Oh broken town
I miss your warmth
You’re hatred leaves me cold
Oh broken town
You’re still in my heart
But no longer in my soul

Verse 3
No go zones
Where the junkies score
And pushers ply their trade
Ladies of the night
You try hard to ignore
Wait weary in the shade

Verse 4
High rise misery
Shelters low life scum
In the stench of urban decay
Tagging their patch
And fighting for fun
Don’t care for a brighter day

Chorus
Oh broken town
I walk these streets
No longer paved with gold
Oh broken town
I miss your warmth
You’re hatred leaves me cold
Oh broken town
You’re still in my heart
But no longer in my soul

Outro
I close my eyes
Fade back in time
And remember how things were
Plague of poverty
Devoured our prime
All’s left is sorrow and fear
