Paul,
Classic tune, classic you. Smart words as I expect.
You make your tunes sound catchy, big and familiar, then wang a key change or layered rock guitars all in under 2.30. Respect

Hi Paul,

You sound so comfortable in this genre.
I got whiffs of If Tomorrow Never Comes. I only know the Ronan Keating version though.
Some really good guitar work, especially towards the end.

A very confident and well written piece.

Very classic old school feel to this country ballad. Simple but effective sentiment. Like others said I also like the key change, not overly drastic, felt natural....good work!

Could imagine this playing in the bars of the mid west and/or texas :-)

I love the sentiment in this song Paul  :) Such a lovely tribute to your better half  :-* I love the vocal delivery, and the space and simplisty suit the emotional content :) Sweet harmonies, perfectly placed :)

Beautiful song and a nice sentiment, and it sounds effortless.  Production is great.  It does remind me a little of Guadaladaladaloops posted a few days ago by Micky Plankton, but that might just be me.

Sorry to bump - time to thank some folks

@JonDavies

Thanks for the kind words - I'll check out that song too :)

@boolio

Hi Phil - thx for that - would be nice to get the royalties on a Garth Brooks hit :)

@pompeyjazz

Thanks John - esp about the lead solo - guitar is always a challenge for me  ;D

@IronKnee

Cheers Tom - can never hear that sentiment too much  ;D

@Neil C

Hey Neil thanks for listening and the nice review - yeah I figure if the chord prog is simple like this one I'd better throw some arrangement interest in there. Glad you noticed.  ;D

@Digger

cheers digger - yes I probably stole from that song - though honestly can't remember hearing it  ;D

@danproducerman

classic - love to hear that! Glad you liked the lift too! Thanks for commenting  ;D

@Morefrog Jones

cheers and thanks!

@crystalsuzy

Better half? Wha? I guess you're right, she is.
Nice to get a thumbs up from the feminine side - thanks CS

@Mike67

cheers Mike - now I better go listen to that one too!

Thanks to everyone!

Hi Paul,

I love country music so I was pretty sure I'd like it given your gold disc lined forum walls. It is old fashioned (which is good), kind of reminiscent of other songs (but not any one in particular so you get to keep out of the courts) and well up to your usual standards. The only fly in the otherwise blemish free ointment is that key change which is just a tad clunky. Very clever and confident songwriting.

Paul,

Wow...without a doubt one of the best songs I have ever heard on this forum (and I don't mean any disrespect to anyone else!!!)...full of great lyrics and an amazing message!

Fantastic work all round...and so true! The verse about the brother dying was powerful man...really well done!

Paul :)

excellent ballad

I've often been surprised by your song
I don't think I'veever done a key change (not intentionally, lol)

I wonder if this is a true story?
good job!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

@montydog - cheers Alan - yes, seems the lift works for some but not all. Maybe it's the lead guitar making for a transition that's a bit rough - will look again. Thanks for the kind words  ;D

@PTCruiser1801 - very kind of you to say that - thanks! The brother verse is a true story so I'm glad it seemed strong for you.

@tboswell - thanks Tom - much appreciated coming from you  ;D

@Rightly - Only the second half is true - the first verse is just tapping into a stereotype (I might change that...) Thanks for listening and commenting.

Thanks again everyone
Paul
