Hi Neil

Really well constructed catchy tune. I couldn't spot any rough edges in the production. Your guitar work fits the song really well. And the lyrics are clever. Have listened to it a few times and I can't get it out of my head!

A well-written and well-arranged track. Love the harmonies, and great strings and guitars. The only note from me would be the vocals fall a touch flat in places, which is magnified by the harmony parts. It's not tragic, but maybe either doing a few takes and creating a comp, or applying a bit of tuning would tighten things up. Otherwise great!

Hi Neil.......wow, what a great melody.......and some really upbeat guitars, as well.
That melody is awesome. I think the lyrical hook is dynamite, but I think you should stay positive, throughout. The "you're too good for me"..... ??? IMHO....stay upbeat and fun, lyrically...
that way, you will be keeping in step with that super upbeat melody.
Love it Neil.....what a great sound!!

Hi,

Good country tune. You have catchy melody in the chorus.
I think the hi-hats are little bit too top in the mix?

Hey Neil, fantastic start to this song...it really catches you from the off. The whole thing is jaunty and catchy, with a great lyric. The arrangement is really good as well, but although I like the strings I thought they were a bit synthy sounding...(sorry). All the rest is excellent though. Great country tune.

I really liked the song - it had some great little unexpected touches

I got a "Country meets the Beatles" vibe

Some lovely tasteful guitar chops that I really appreciated

The production sounded nice but was was missing some "low mid guts" for me, which made the cymbals sound a little "trashy"

The "stand out" for me was the backing vocals - they sounded great

Overall a fantastic listen

Hi Neil,

It is too good for Nashville as it doesn't sound mass produced. :)
Loved the opening.
The strings and guitar work very well together.
The vocal sits well with the backdrop.
Very catchy chorus.

Good stuff.

Neil

Really catchy song with backing vocal and guitar work standing out for me.

I like the way the melody build to "Your no good for me" It's a really good hook and leads you onto the next verse, ....or repeat chorus

Now, I'm not an expert in Country music but the addition of the strings surely takes it into more pop territory than "Achy Breaky Heart" territory. Anyway, I'm not knocking the string stabs, I think they work really well.

Well, basically this is purty damn good! That chorus has the hookiest melody I've ever heard from you and the track displays all your considerable talents as a player and arranger. Lyrically top drawer as others have said and well sung. It has a contemporary country feel which I'm not a great fan of but that's just old man me. This is a class piece of work.

Nice song and lyrics man! The recording quality is great too.

What a catchy chorus as well, I can't get it out of my head.

If I were to give some constructive criticism, I would think that there may be a part in which the volume drops slightly for some contrast.

Cheers,

Hey Neil,

Yep, catchy as! Not much of a country music fan myself but I can hear a lot more going on here than I usually do in this kind of tune.

For some reason, I got a Clapton vibe...Layla perhaps?

And I agree with the vote for a female lead. Dolly, sure. Shania, even better. I think I can picture the girl putting down the hotshot-wannabe more easily than the other way around.

cheers,
L

Love the intro, sets the bar high and the chorus delivers. I agree with danieltrigger that there are a couple of vox issues that normally would pass unnoticed I guess but this track is so slick that they are more noticeable than usual. Fab guitars (once again)!
Mix sound really good, perhaps a little short on bottom end for my taste but a matter of preferences of course. Well done!
