Hi All,

Finally finished something new. For us it's an album closer or end credits sort of song - so don't expect fireworks and you won't be too disappointed.
We wanted something really stripped down and simple. I tried adding guitar but it just seemed to choke things (if you'll pardon the pun).

Any feedback welcome.
Thanks for listening.

Asphyxia

Got your hand in my pocket, guess you
Find your comfort there
You pull a little closer to me
So you can breathe the same air

You always wanna know
The lost thoughts in my head
You always wanna be
The last word that I said

Chorus:
I tell you all the time
You've gotta let it go
You've gotta let it go
Or we'll drown

You take another picture, guess you
Freeze the time we share
You tie your chains of gold around me
And now you keep me hanging there

You always ask me why
I smile when it's not at you
You always wanna try
And be my only view

Chorus:

Spend a week in which we hide
Take each day and fill with lies
Live together in a seemless skin
You're the ocean, but I can't swim
You smother me
You cover me
You're pulling me
Down.

Chorus:

I tell you all the time.

So much to like about this song from the bass intro to the last beat. So atmospheric. I think you've done so well in keeping it sparse as it creates such a haunting dramatic atmosphere. The piano parts are very well thought out and vocals are sensational. Love it

This is superb. It´s a great song, from start to finish, but the arrangement is so original and creates a real melancholy atmosphere. The opening guitar riff is so original melodically, and after that everything just seems to step up and fall into place effortlessly. I love K´s voice as well and the backing harmonies just work beautifully. You have an amazing original sound here, there must be some chemistry between the two of you.

10/10.

Oooh digger,I always love your stuff, but this time you've gone and excelled yourself. This is pure class.  8)

I'm getting claustrophobic feelings just listing to the lyric pan out. It's an 3D snapshot of a controlling relationship and it's so real it hurts.

I dunno how you kept guitar out,but it was the right thing to do. I couldn't keep my filthy guitar hands off this!

The female vocal is awesomely sensual and I may be in love.  :-*

No scrub that,I am in love. Send her to me right now.  :D

You've reached a peak here JB and you've made my night.  :)

Such an atmospheric, gloomy, almost Gothic feel that you've created here. It reminded me initially of Siouxsie and the Banshees with the resonant notes humming in the intro section, joined by the haunting female vocals...but then it took a direction of its own.

The lyrics fit the mood created by the melody perfectly, canvassing an all-too-familiar 'love dies by suffocation' theme. Haven't heard it rendered quite this way before though.

Good stuff!

Hi

Marvelous 'stripped out' backing gives great impact to the superb haunting (and haunted) vocal...fab

Also...

Quote
You always wanna know
The lost thoughts in my head
You always wanna be
The last word that I said

...what a verse! - economic and packing a punch, though I probably could've singled-out all other lyrics here for applause  :)

this is the best vocal ive heard katja do.. its very assured & confident ,..but I still worry about her she still sounds very depressed... digger i think you should invite her over for a week & tell her some great rib tickling jokes  :)
anyway this has a lovely uncluttered sound with just the fabulous bass & piano... its like a very grand unfurnished room that furniture would only mess up
very classy & melodic & I love all the changes altho I dont think im quite unhappy enough to realy  appreciate every bit of its glory
digger that title is so you!  :)
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Ah, the comfortably good, digger and Katja! Lovely sparseness about the arrangement and delicate instrumentation that supports an emotive melody and lyric. Nice production too, the piano and bass sounds are superb. Your quality control department must have some great policies! ;)
Cheers

Hey Digger

Great lyrics btw. Simple message, delivered intelligently.

I'm a sucker for the patterns you've put in place; the v1-v3 and v2-v4 then the outcasted v5 which almost surrenders to the antagonist. Lovely stuff.

Actually pressing play and listening to the song, blown away! You said expect no fireworks but, damn, that was something else.

Believe the only other of yours I've listened to was your Spooky or What winner, and this bags the same quality for me.

Only gutted it's a private video, want to add to a playlist for later listening!

I need to stop listening to others on here, the more I listen to more I feel out of my depth! ;) Great start to to year for the forum!

All the best,
Scott.

Hey digger

Well there you go again - raising the bar!
This is a work of art - so captivating that I forgot I was listening so I could offer advice.
Lovely vocals and atmosphere - way above my critiquing station.

Well done  ;D ;D

Digger, Tremendous song.... and the lyrics, wow first rate. Love the sparsity, all that space, I would just have to fill it, glad you weren't tempted.

Hi,

Very dark track. The bass line is great in the intro, simple but good.
The piano parts are also good, just like vocals.

Well done!

 Hi Digger,

Love the vocal.  Very personal/intimate.  Katja makes
it sound so easy.  Very confident and relaxed.

Love the arrangement, and the build is excellent. ;D
 Perfect vehicle for the lyrics.....
