I've never watched the Eurovision Song Contest before and I'm not a Graham Norton fan, but as I'm I'm in songwriting mode at the moment I thought I'd watch it this time

(A bottle of wine has helped me get through it)

Graham Norton comperes well but sometimes his 'punchline' can't be heard because he lowers his voice and I end up thinking 'what did he say'. then I've missed the humour.

The song was unusual and a surprise to hear  on Eurovision. So many ballads must have been entered in the past but turned down just because they were ballads.
I agree with your comments and pleased that the contest was not the same as previous recent ones when they have been so 'showy' but not in a good way.
