Hi All.

After some very useful comments when I posted my last song, I decided to take on board a frequent comment which was that it would sound good with a thumping kick drum and given the 'Avicii treatment'

As I'd only heard the one famous Avicii track at the time I've been doing some listening to him and the dance/EDM genre in general and this is what I've come up with.

https://soundcloud.com/my-idiom/baby-dance-mix-m-blair-2016

It's not meant to be an Avicii copy, I'm not that good, it's a Yodasdad original ;).

Some slight changes to arrangement from the original but a whole different direction in terms of genre.

Thanks to those of you who commented first time around, it was very useful feeback and proves what a valuable resource this forum is.

If you would like to compare to the first version, it's still up on my soundcloud alongside this one.

Baby - © M Blair

Verse

Every time I see you It hurts me inside...coz
you give off a coldness your eyes just can't hide
Do you really want me or are you just playing games.

Verse

When i touch your body I feel you withdraw...and
Any time I kiss you you never want more
I can't help but want you but do you still feel the same

Bridge

When your near me I start burnin up my body's on fire, and I think I like it
But do you feel the heat do I ignite your body and and mind won'y you tell me tell me

Chorus

Baby, are you thinking bout me lately baby
Or are you calling someone else
Baby don't you know it's driving me crazy
Are you leadin me on

Verse

If you dont want me just be straight with me please...coz
I'm really struggling with the signals recieved
You say you love me but there's something that's just not right

Verse

Are you spending time with somebody else...and
When your with me are you thinkin of them
If Im wrong then why won't you put up a fight.

Middle 8

When it all breaks down, when i’m not around don’t you tell me your lonely
we’ve both made mistakes but baby all it takes is just a second to phone me
just stop playing games, before it gets to late
I’ll forgive it all, it can be like before but I’m not gonna wait

nice bouncy feel to this...

your voice is really good and it's great to hear something different...not a genre I know anything about...but an enjoyable listen all the same.

cool  :)

Not my genre at all, and like you I only know that one big Avicii hit (and I loved it - quite weirdly for me). Coming back to your song, it's great - I heard similar bouncing stereo ping-pong things going on, just like on "Wake me up" - very effective and perfectly executed. Your voice is strong and actually seems to suit this style, but again I am no expert. It bounces along nicely, good job I would say  :)

Hey there.....listened and really liked it. As everyone noted, a very bounce-y and likable feel to this.
I enjoyed the listen.......( I'm glad Mr. Bieber didn't have anything to do with this  ;D )

Hey Yodasdad,

I think it's fab.  I've had a listen to both versions and think dance was definitely the right direction to take the song and you've done it really well so congrats on that.
I can imagine the song being sung by a female vocalist and maybe taken up a key.  The only thing I would say is perhaps bring the bridge in one bar earlier, but that's just me, and I will admit I have 0 knowledge of musical arrangements so feel free to ignore!
Job well done though.   I think it would be quite at home on Capital Fm!

I love the bouncy dance vibe of this one Vodasdad and like others have said, I think your voice suits
this genre very well  :o Excellent job on the backing track...I love the intro and bubbly organ  :)
The lyrics suit this style perfectly :) Kudos from me  :)

youve realy done a good job with this particularly as its not your genre...& youve  definitely succeeded in making dance pop...tho quite dated dance pop ...it reminded me a little of early madonna
but the beat just wasnt loud enough it should be much more aggressive & dominant...
i think the middle 8 is still awesome & the best part of the song
i hope youre impressed by your own versatility  :)
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

This is great YD...a real thumping tune and sounding much more accessible. For some reason the "baby" line doesn't sound so cheesy to me on this version  ;D

I think it is extremely well produced and put together. Great work.
