hi everyone. this one i wrote and recorded some time ago in roughly the same style as Bobbies kitchen but a bit more melodic and traditional.

LOOK YOU UP

I THINK I LOOK YOU UP, IF I FIND SOME TIME
ITS BEEN A LONG WAY SINCE, I’VE GOT YOU ON MY MIND
YOUR IMAGE IS STILL THERE, I SEE IT CRYSTAL CLEAR
SOMETIMES JUST BREAKS MY HEART CAUSE I DON’T HAVE YOU HERE

I REMEMBER ALL THE DAYS WE USE TO PLAY OR FIGHT
YES YOU’RE STILL IN MY HEART I LOOK YOU UP TONIGHT

MY BEST FRIENDS TOLD ME THAT, YOU ARE BACK IN TOWN
BUT ONLY HALF YOURSELF CAUSE HE IS STILL AROUND

BUT NOMATTER WHAT THEY SAY AND WHATEVER WAS MY CRIME
I THINK I LOOK YOU UP IF I FIND SOME TIME

SOMETIMES I LINGER OVER  TO THE NIGHT THAT I TOOK WAT I THOUGHT WAS MINE
I’M SO ASHAMED BOUT THAT, CAN YOU EASE MY MIND

SOMETIMES MY HEAD IS SO FULL, I TRIED TO UNDERSTAND THE RULES,
LIFE SAYS YOU’RE NO LONGER HERE WITH ME, THE WAY IT WENT YOU MUST BE STRONG, AND ALL THAT SHIT DON’T MEAN THAT MUCH TO ME

WE GO A LONG WAY BACK, WE WHERE CHILDREN AFTER ALL
AND WHEN I THINK OF HOW WE LOST OUR TRACK, MY NIGHT BEGIN TO FALL
THOSE YEARS SO DARK IN HERE, I JUST CAN’T FIND THE LIGHT
I REALLY GOT TO FIND SOME TIME AND LOOK YOU UP TONIGHT

I REALLY GOT TO FIND SOME TIME AND LOOK YOU UP TONIGHT

Chef,

What a superb song.  Great story telling and a melody to match!

Thanks,

Paul

Really good Cheff, the intro sounds like ruthmn of the rain

I love the sound to your music, it's so warm and sounds like a proper band is rhearsing

I also live the drum sound you have - is that real drums? Although I think it's a cymbal or something that has a real constant beat that started to distract me. I would like to know what you are using to get these sounds

Your delivery on this one reminded me a lot of Johnny Cash

I really like the lyrics here and they show a softer side to the dark material you have posted

Good old fashioned well crafted writing mate

thank you Paul. this is one of my favorite songs to do live with only acoustic guitar now and then.

Kafla, thank you man. i realized later that the intro sounds a lot like rythm of the rain indeed, but i liked it so much that i could'nt skip it and hoped that noone would recognize a 50 years old song. the drums are from the impulse program of ableton in wich i do my recording, and my aim is always to achieve that bandsound you're talking about so i use mostly the same instruments with little ajustments in my songs.
