Hi I have posted a new song by myself. Had an idea for a mid sixties big pop ballad with a hint of motown but got lost on the way there. My collaborator (Anne) does 99% of vocals and do the rest minus drums and brass. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

And so it’s true, you don’t hear me
Well this is the way that I feel
I know this real

Can’t undo all these changes
Having some things to say
But the words, they slip away.

CHORUS: -
So Don’t, don’t say it’s over
Don’t….. let it go cold.
Don’t walk away, I need you to stay
Or I………will die

I’m so confused,  so revealing
When I’m with you, I see
What you have Oh yes I need

Don’t you know, a fool never changes
Ever his eyes will deny
What his mind knows is right

CHORUS: -

Caught in this landslide with you
Nowhere to turn will I ever, ever learn
All I can say is leave it let it fade away
I want to know what you know
And to feel what you say
Want to be with you know
Yes I know we can change.

Don’t change a thing, leave it ‘til later
These are the things I do
So don’t complicate it

Hearing it know, words have no meaning
Changing the way that I say
But still you walk away.

CHORUS: -

Nice song, full of quirkiness for me, I mean who starts a song with a diminished chord? You do, that's who, fair play. (And probably plenty of other people who I can't remember)

Nice calm, laid back feel thanks to the compound time signature. Loved the guitars and the brass worked well.

Good job.

that was a blast
Thanks for posting it
very laid back, great use of horns
Thrillin'!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

And there you have it.

Hi,

I love the upfront sweet vocals...very sixties production feel with the piano providing a bit of a Doo-Wop feel.  A great retro trip with great vocals and harmonies....and taps into the confusion of love going wrong....Very well done!

Thanks for that. Diminished chord idea is from The Beatles " All I Got to Do" Hope they don't sue me.

Hey richmon.

It's a 60s vibe done in the 70s.  8)

I like your voice,it suits the song really well. Some nice Gilmour inspired guitar work there too.

Cool song,well done.  :)

Hi, well constructed track and arrangement with a 60's feel. Brass adds to the authentic feel. Nicely sung too!
You pinched Dave gilmours guitar tone for the solo too!  ;)
Nice one!
Cheers

Oooo what a beaut.

Don't think I've heard one of yours before, but I won't be missing anymore. Digging the little bit of whatever it is (I'm terrible at these things) just as the last line of chorus finishes.

Really enjoyed the listen just settling down into bed exactly what I needed.

Great song!
I love all those stops - no-one bothers to do that anymore and it adds so much interest.
Lots else to like too - the vocals, harmonies (but I wish they were spread out more).
You might want to revisit the "don't say it's over" bit and replace it with sth less used - or not - it still seems pretty fresh here. ;D ;D
Enjoyed it!

Thanks Paul for positive feedback. I agree chorus is a bit cheesy but then again the whole song is a giant block of cheese.

Hi Richmon
I think you hit the period vibe superbly well - great horns and guitar stabs and arps. Laid back ebbing and flowing melody.

The one thing that I found a little distracting was the vocal which to me sounded a bit processed at times - might be a bit too compressed, or just lacking in a bit of top end? Not sure, maybe that's just the sound of the vinyl! Feel bad for mentioning anything.

But also sweet harmonies just at the right times - great stuff!
