Hi guys

I'm putting this one together for the FFHS showcase.
It's a LOUD mix so you might want to slide the volume down a bit.  ;D
The dead spot at 2:00 in is going to be a guitar solo to the verse melody.
It's a rough mix, but any advice on how to improve lyrics or arrangement would be appreciated.

thx
Paul

Christmas on the Road (Home is where my Heart Belongs)
Copyright © 2016 Tennyson Road Music

I drive by city lights
Flashing neon signs
A warning on my dash says "LOW ON FUEL"
I can't believe tomorrow's really Christmas
I hadn't noticed it was glowing in the distance

A motel offers rest
I check in at the desk
Toss my weary bags across the room
I spend most of my time here on the road
But home is where my heart belongs

A melody appears
Awakened in my ears
The carol that became our favourite song
The tear that's on my cheek's a cold reminder
That home is where my heart belongs

I close my eyes and I see you there
Your loving smile, your flowing hair
Soon we can talk on the phone
But home is where my heart belongs

From here I'll watch another Christmas come and go
But home is where my heart belongs

And in my mind, I see you there
Your loving smile, your golden hair
Soon we'll be talking on the phone
But home is where my heart belongs

It's Christmas eve
And I'm stuck here on the road
But home is what my heart needs
Home is where my heart leads
Home is where my heart belongs

Very nice. I have only one little bitty nit on the line "I spend most of my time here on the road" (cuz I'm not mentioning the cold tear thing again ;)). I would likely sing the rhythm slightly differently to make it sound (to me) more natural. But otherwise, I have no complaints at all. It's perfect for relaxing in front of the fire with some hot chocolate.

Its a great song Paulski. A little syrupy but thats ok its Christmas! Your vocal delivery is really strong so i wouldnt change much there. Keep at it. Its better than 99% of the Xmas songs out there.
My favourite xmas song of all time is Driving home at Xmas and - if you can throw in a little of the groove from that i think you could be onto another Xmas cracker with this one!

Thanks Vicki - I tried, but can't think of a way to sing that line differently. Must be the way us northerners speak :) Appreciate the kind feedback.

Yep - cheezy is OK at xmas time - I hope.
I'd be quite happy to be in the top 1% :)
I'll give Driving home at Xmas a listen - maybe I can learn something :)
Thanks for listening and commenting.
