Hi everyone......got a little 1+1 up for review. Hoping that you all like it. All comments are welcome; and, of course, first impressions are appreciated.
Thanks, in advance!!

“Starry-Eyed”
By Tom Tognaci

She trampled on the moon
As her tears fell in its light
With eyes shadowed in gloom
Oh, how she loathed its lonely sight

But, how many nights did she plead to that ole moon
She lifted her prayers for that gentle face to find her soon
But, he never came…..

She knew nothing about love
She was just a lonely girl
Who asked that moon above
To help her find love in this world

Yes, how many nights did she plead to that ole moon
She lifted her prayers for that gentle face to find her soon
But, he never came…..
No, he never came……

Well, that moon came tumbling down
And proposed upon its knees
But, the star she thought she found
Turned out to be merely cheese

But, how many nights did she plead to that ole moon
She lifted her prayers for that gentle face to find her soon
But, he never came…..
No, he never came……
No, he never came……

Oh I really love these lyrics! Finger picking is beautiful too. Full of melancholy and visual imagery. Really enjoyed this.

Hi Tom,

I've always liked things connected with the moon; So the lyric had instant appeal.

Lovely finger picking and well recorded. The guitar has a very nice  "rounded" tone.

Vocal is authentic sounding. Not over produced. No fancy tricks.

As you write - "a little 1+1" - and a good 1 it is.

Hi,

Great guitar on this! combined with a strong and honest vocal I couldn't help but like from the start.

Really nice work :-)

Beautiful and simple, nice work.

Loved the guitar, both the playing and the overall sound.

The only thing I would say is that for me although the vocal was in keeping with the style of the song, it didn't quite match up to the clarity of the guitar. Doesn't affect the quality of the song, just kind of sounds like the vocal was recorded in the 60's and the guitar in the 00's if you know what I mean.

Don't know whether there's really a solution to this as to change either one would be a sacrifice; the clarity and tone of the guitar or the integrity and authenticity of the vocal.

Just thought I'd mention it, good work though, really liked it.

Lovely picking and a great vocal performance combined with the sensitive, well written lyrics and the simple but appealing melody results in a very lovely thing indeed. You make it sound easy and natural which is how it should be in my book. Right up my musical street, turn left at talent square and park up outside the house of song.

Great finger picking. Good lyric. I was quite surprised but the 'reveal' which almost takes this song into the comic arena. But I liked it. Made me smile so, not comic just funny.

Very good, simple sound and I know that's not easy because such a sparse arrangement exposes your voice and your playing completely and you can get away with nothing. But you're safe. It's all top notch and enviably error free.

Is that one guitar or two played beautifully in time?

Thanks for listening.....I recorded this in a take, and then mastered it with one of the pre-programmed mastering choices that the Boss Micro BR-4 offers. What you hear is how it basically sounds live.
I thought it sounded cool!
Thanks, again!

The "reveal" is upsetting to some...but, I won't change a thing. That is the line that says it all for me. "Starred Eyed".......sometimes that preconditioned conception denies us what is true. She prayed for true love...and when it came, it wasn't what she had imagined  Tongue
Thanks for addressing that Cheese-y line.

Oh....that is just one guitar, with a cool effect lacqured on the guitar and vocal. It's interesting how the mastering EQ affects the vocal and the guitar........kindof accents both in different ways.
Neat stuff!

And thanks to all who have listened!!

Yo Tom,

Shades of Willie Nelson.....When the vocal starts total Willie vibe.....
Nice fingerpicking!!  Also a strong "Bojangles" feel for me
The easy flow to the story takes us on a great bittersweet ride...despite the cheesy ending :>)
Well done!!

Super song, loved the simplicity of an acoustic guitar and vocal arrangement proving a great song should stand on that alone,

Inspired me greatly my friend  :)

Lovely lyrics that really compliment the feel and the groove had me tapping my foot all the way through

Thanks!

Hey there Igg.....thanks for commenting! Very perceptive of you calling a Willie Nelson vibe  8). That is exactly what I am going for ;)
