Collaboration League

About
Welcome to the home of the Collaboration League, where users are encouraged to work together to create content and also encouraged to give different interpretations of existing content.

This has been created as an alternative to the traditional method of seeking an individual collaborator by opening up content under the NonCommercial to encourage as many implementations and as much creativity as we can, giving freedom for people to implement any submitted lyrics/instrumentals but assuring the component submitters that their work should not be used commercially, unless individually agreed.

* 2 points for submitting then an extra 2 points if someone uses them. Each subsequent implementation grants an extra +1 points to encourage multiple uses. (I.e. 2 points for submitting, then 2 points if someone uses them, then 3 points if someone else uses them, then 4 points ect..)
** 4 points for making a song using the submitted content, but +1 for each time that content has already been used. (I.e. if a set of lyrics already has a song, you will get 5 points for making a second)

This is in a 'pilot' phase and has been created by modifying a 'Sing Eathothers Songs' pilot to open up the structure. Any feedback on the format and structure is appreciated.

I have posted some lyrics on the lyrics board. I have no objection to anyone adding music to them. Initially I'd suggest a 50-50 co-write, lyrics by diademgrove, music by...

If the music is far superior to the words then this would be negotiable.

Here's the words:

Verse 1

The barker shouts "come ye all to the fair"
bright flashing lights dance across the sky
slicked back hair, zoot suit, green shirt
Getting high on the fairground air
Standing beside the helter skelter

Pre-chorus 1

I want to take a ride, take a ride, take a ride, a ride

Chorus

tonight at the fair, tonight at the fair
will I find love? tonight at the fair

Verse 2

The crescent moon is shining through the clouds
shining on the leaves as they turn gold
polished shoes, white shirt, black skirt
getting wet in the autumn rain
I see you laughing by the ghost train

Pre-chorus 2

Why don't you, take a ride, take a ride, take a ride, with me

Chorus

Bridge (music only)

Pre-chorus 2

Chorus

And here's a link to the lyrics thread

http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=11893.0

Looking forward to see what happens to my words.

Keith

Hi All,

Don't know if this is still going ahead but thought I would throw my chorusless lyric in and see what comes back:

Time and Tears

I think it’s time (I think it’s time)
I figured out why
I still feel this way
I know things won’t change
You can’t turn back time
When I’m walking down the street
I feel like I’m borderline
I can’t remember the days
When your love didn’t cloud my mind
All the good you said you saw in me
You used up
I’m losing my mind
Lost count of the hours where I’ve sat and I’ve cried about giving you my love
Knowing how I’d never be
Enough for you
My friends said this love it was destined to end
Now
Since you’ve been gone I’ve
I’ve let myself down
Catching tears as they fall
There’s been no moving on
I’ve been cry, I’ve been cry, I’ve been cry, I’ve been cry, I’ve been crying
Over a love that you just pushed aside
No second thought for what you and I
What we could become
And now I’m gonna prove that you’re wrong
Cos I’m gonna grow
Till you don’t recognise me no more
Gonna dust myself off
Because I put your stuff out
You were wrong and I’m done and I know that
I’ve got to be stronger
Than what I was yesterday
Gonna leave you behind
No more praying on my mind
No more time
No more crying for this love that was destined to end

Will post on the lyrics thread too.  Good luck to anyone that gives it a go.

Cheers
A

Hi Anita,

I'm interested in trying to put your words to music. Would you mind if I change some of the words to fit in with a verse/chorus/bridge structure?

I've no problem if you say no.

Keith

Hey Anita,

Thanks for getting involved look like great lyrics and I'm looking forward to hearing them performed!

Hey Oldbutyet would be great to get more lyrics, and I think you're right on the guidelines I will reword when I find some time based on where I can see this still being relevant.

I think it will follow the premise of anyone post lyrics for anyone (and multiple) people to perform, but with no 'chosen lyrics ' or deadlines, then just keep track of each lyrics and their submissions for comparison and inspiration.

Giving this an unshameful 100th-post bump due to extensive changes made from pilot feedback.

More feedback is welcome

These are old lyrics of mine that i've also posted in the lyric section, the guide lines here are very fair and explain very well what this thread is all about so borrowing Keith words "no objection to anyone adding music to them" thanks.

Princess Of The Street

She lives in the city she is so pretty
She makes her living on the street
She knows the game don't charge loose change
She the princess of the street

Chorus
Hey there princess under a street light
Hey there princess hey babe tell me your life

She looks so grand her head held high
She drives her clients wild
She walks her patch like a cat walk princess
Makeup hides secrets

Childhood years bought nothing but fears
Sweet dreams disappear
Princess strong she lives on her own
Since only sweet sixteen

Chorus
Hey there princess under a street light
Hey there princess hey babe tell me your life

She knows the dangers
Crazy strangers beaten and misuse
In her world she knows the falls
She used to been abuse

Chorus
Hey there princess under a street light
Hey there princess hey babe tell me your life

Hey Binladeda,

Great news to have you eager to get involved, would be awesome if you've got any instrumentals to submit which could help get people inspired.

And no worries on the timeframes, one of the points of this is to keep the content open with longevity so that they can be picked up, parked, revisited and abandoned at a whim. xD

Cheers,
Scott

Hey Bin, I'm still working on one of your instrumental tracks called "Running Free" :-[ so I know what you mean about it taking awhile ::) I find that I'll work on a song intensely for a bit, and then I have to leave it alone for a while, and then come back to it  ;) but there's no pressure here :)

Thanks for the offer. I'll have a go at hitting the 4 minute mark. It may take a week or so as I've forgotten what I did.
