Melodramatic and beautifully couched,to simply call what you've written by the bare title of lyrics is inadequate description.

A very human interaction captured with grace and sensitivity.  8)

You`ve made an excellent song Rightly.
Guitar and vocals compliment each other and enhance a great set of lyrics. No crits` just envy.

Thank you.

That's the spirit John... Just don't envy me, there are of plenty others who are much more deserving.
Strange thing, envy.
There's a lot of it about amongst the artists. I suppose it's inevitable.

Paul, thanks. Why do people call me mr. rightly?
I get it on the stage and on the forums. Enigmatic...
I'll look that one up, to make sure. 😃

Thanks Skud. At some point I stopped digging this song, now I'm back in the saddle!
Was written relatively quickly, without much deliberation.
It took about three days, n then three weeks to get it stage worthy.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Hi Rightly........love the lyric. Your lyrics stand very well, without the music.
The music is not very dynamic, and so it's the emotional input of your performance that is charged with carrying the whole of the musical idea over. I think you did a good job, with the way you matched your expression of the melody to your guitar, but I think it should be stronger and more refined.
You write some pretty interesting stuff for your guitar.............I really appreciate the uniqueness of the experience.
Good job, man!

Rightly,

Yeah I think this works really well...Your style establishes a beautiful conversational vibe and an opening for the sentiment to be expressed and listened to...Reminds me of the beat poets laying it out over a Brazilian chop rhythm... Lyrics are direct and evocative..  A unique and intriguing style..

Hi Rightly....it's always cool to have others take an interest in our music, and while this is a decent interpretation of your original song, I think it lacks the passion that you instilled into it. What you performed was something that was compelling and promised some truth........they performed a song that didn't seem very authentic. Just my humble opinion.
Here is a good example of how important the performance of a song dictates how that song gets understood  8)
Again, just my opinion, Rightly............love your stuff, man!

Good one. Great lyrics in the first two verses and bridge, and probably in the third verse, too, but frankly I got completely lost there and don't see the connection to the first part of the story. Or did you have an affair with god? ;-)

No matter, raw and emotional and strong - a great piece of songwriting for sure!

yes, thanks tinam n' ironknee, I agree with everything you said there Ironknee.
I still like the cover though.
The French Accent reminds me a bit of Leonard cohen. Cello is always lovely.

I'm biased, of course, but I do prefer the original.
The other singer loves the song and interprets it his way.
The idea for this band to Play it was mine. I got some distance from the song and that distance influenced the way I perform it these days.
Win Win, sort of Thing. two Versions the Pearl and the pill, Given the Option I'll take both.

I think when People experience disappointment strongly they reflect on the Facts directly, after a while they reflect on the Facts more abstractly, or indirectly. I dunno if that helps. good luck.

I sing the song in character, it might well be that after his disappointment, the character took more interest in Religion, I don't know. that wouldn't be an unusual Story, would it?
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Really love the lyrics on this one...they're very evocative and tell an emotional story. It's your usual style of guitar which is really beginning to grow on me. Great voice as well...strong stuff.

Don't know what I could say about this that hasn't already been said, so I won't, good stuff.

Cello though, I do love a bit of cello, very underrated but whack it on anything and it'll make it better. Nice to see it featured prominently.
