Normally I can't remember dreams but on Monday the alarm hoisted me to consciousness with a song (mainly a chorus) still ringing. In the dream I was at a songwriters open mic and a band played one verse then hit a massive chorus; TEXAS, TEXAS, TEXAS!
That was it. I've written a couple of verses and will post when recorded.

Does this happen to you?

It has happened to me before, sometimes the song is gone upon waking, leaving only the knowledge of being close to something beautiful. Other times,if I'm quick and can get the rough melody line recorded,I can catch it. Those ethereal notions often disappear like frost in the morning sunlight.

I wrote a song once inspired by a friend asking where my song ideas come from and mixed it with the Keith Richards quote/misquote of songs being left by angels. Someday I must record it properly,it currently resides in the backlog bank.  :)

Glad you remembered enough of your dream to 'get it down' but the opposite can happen to me while awake! An opening line in my head, guitar in hand I reach for my phone/Tascam...too late, the 'essence' has gone...! and with it maybe my one chance to write my way out of this boredom  :)

Look forward to hearing your finished song.

Quavers, Crotchets, Doritos. What's the difference?

One March, about fifteen years ago, when I was ill with pneumonia and drugged up on all sorts of medication I dreamed a particular horse won a race at the Cheltenham Festival Meeting. Lo and behold, when I looked in the paper the next morning that horse was running...

I placed a small bet...

...Yep, the horse won!  ;D

Wouldn't it have been better if you had placed a LARGE bet?   ;o)
