He's a song I wrote just before the birth of my son and first child.

Times have moved on, but I just wanted to capture how I felt at the time, just as a reminder.

Hope you like it.

So where do I begin?
I feels that I can start over again
The best I've ever seen
We realise our life's about to change

Down the road
Imagine the joy you''ll bring
We'll get old
But for right now everything, yeah everything's alright.

We're learning as we go
And we'll get by in the only way we know
And doing all we can
Until the day when the boy becomes a man

Years go by
Always be there by my side
Reach the sky
And take me along for the ride, and everything's alright

Hi Adam,

I thought the song expressed the joy of becoming a father very well. I liked the way it invited your son to be part of the family. Very mellow. When my daughters were born I was more bang, crash, wallop, yes. That's was nearly 30 years ago though.

Great song.

Congratulations to you and your wife. I sang nonsense words to my two daughters and made up some songs for them. Surprisingly they turned out relatively normal.

Enjoy bringing them up it passes oh too quickly.

Hey Adam.
A very pleasant, mellow listen and an excellent record of the event.

The only gripe I have is the repeating 3 note riff throughout the song wore a bit thin for me. I'd be looking to drop it out some places, just to give the ears a rest.

That minor aside,very enjoyable.  :)

Very chilled Adam. Your sentiments are well expressed. Some great little touches and harmonies. My only slight nit was that I was expecting it to go somewhere else but the song continued on the same theme throughout. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just my opinion. Nice work.

Thanks nooms.

I'm glad you got the lullaby reference.

Soppy I know but that's what the song is about really, looking down on your first child and thinking about what the future will bring etc....

Wise to capture those moments in time. ;D ;D
Lovely vocals, melody and guitar.
Perfect length.
I'm hearing shades of David Gates and Bread one of my fav bands.

Beautiful song.

Captures that moment of being a parent for the first time really well.

Love the guitars and backing vocals best of all.....apart from the excellent singing.

Really nice song Adam, gentle and pleasant on the ear. You´ve got some lovely melodies and harmonic arrangements going on under here. I can´t quite bring myself to write songs like this about my kids but I feel the love and know it well (my song would more likely be titled ´Be quiet and pick that up´). I do REALLY like the clean guitar sound as well with the bass synth filling out the arrangement.

My strongest recommendation is that you play this for your kids at their 18th birthday party in front of all their friends  ;D

Thank you very much for the compliment. Vocally at least it's the one I'm most proud of.
