Just a straightforward, no nonsense, tongue in cheek power pop song I wrote for my old band. It never got recorded so I thought it was about time  ;D

https://soundcloud.com/jambrains/yours-for-the-taking.

YOURS FOR THE TAKING

Each time I see you my head starts to spin
I want to see you
beam me up
to your starship
take me crusing
the galaxies of love
Oh won't you please get me out of this world
I'v really had it
chasing shadows
of memories
dreams and wishes
that never came to be

Can't you see
I'm yours for the taking
Take me as I am
Heart is pounding
Knees they are shaking
Take me as I am

I just can't wait
I need to see you again
the time that we're apart
is wasted
and pointless
a desert where my love
will die of thirst
in love and war they say all things are fair
And I'm prepared to do
all sorts of mad things
to make you see me
and finally look my way

Can't you see
I'm yours for the taking
Take me as I am
Heart is pounding
Knees they are shaking
Take me as I am

Let you love enlight me
like a shooting star at night
Let it shine around me
like a white dwarf oh so bright
Let my love devour you
like a black hole out in space
Let it close in on you
a deadly last embrace

Can't you see
I'm yours for the taking
Take me as I am
Heart is pounding
Knees they are shaking
Take me as I am

Give me a ride on your rocket of love
I need a piece of the action
the thrill of the danger
the sensation
of going nowhere fast
I burned my bridges
a long time ago
my familiy and friends
are long gone
missing
I'm betting all of my future
just on you

Can't you see
I'm yours for the taking
Take me as I am
Heart is pounding
Knees they are shaking
Take me as I am

Whoa!  Very well done, top to bottom!  Brings The Knack to mind in feel.  Clever lyrics, great playing.  I like it!

fantastic powerhouse rhythym section pushing this along & it has a super sound...it went straight to the rock n roll recepters in my brain & turned the whole lot on
its classic rock where youve heard it all before but loved it so much you dont mind hearing a new version..
omg whos got the rocket of love here? ;D
that was a very unusual ending like the plug fell out of something?
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Always very impressed with your production and arrangements Jambrains. Like you say, this one does what it says on the tin. A perfect example of power pop reminding me of some of the American New Wave bands of the early eighties. Would maybe liked to have heard the vocals a bit more up front. Another quality piece of work  :)

Fantastic song here Jambrains! Really enjoyed the listen!

The guitars sound super...but my favourite part of this song is the lyrics! Very cleverly done and I like the recurring themes throughout!

I don't know what else to say except...Well done!

Definitely a pop power song.

Love that guitar intro and it keeps the song intact all the way through.

As I listen to it the song gets better and better.

This is a song I would have danced to in my youth!

Great ending....did not see that coming!

The title says it all.

Excellent

Very Stones beginning with some rocking guitar work Jambrains. The production and playing and arrangement throughout are superb and very well put together. It isn't my fav of yours but it certainly hits some buttons - I went back for seconds so it definitely has something! You do sing great but I would have loved to hear you stretch your voice on the chorus to take it up another notch. Very cool though - mosh pit anthemic stuff.

Oh yes - bring back the era of the guitar solo - I so miss it in today's pop.
Awesomely written, recorded, sung and played track. What are we supposed to do? Find fault? - not gonna happen - sorry :)

Tip my Canadian toque to your talents :)

@Buc McMaster: thanks for the kind words, Wow, The Knack is one of my absolute fav bands (and one of the most under estimated bands of all time imho)

@shadowfax: thanks, I guess we could start using Jambrains as a synonym for awesomeness then?  ;D

@skub: thanks for taking the time, glad you enjoyed it  :)

@tinam: Lol, yeah the rocket of love line don't work quite as well me singing it. With the band we had a girl singing and then I made more sense (albeit a bit more kinky..)

@popmpeyjazz: damn! Last thing I did before posting was backing off the vocals a tad...  :-[

@PTCruiser1801, @Movin Flavour, @IronKnee, thanks for listening and the very kind reviews, very much appreciated.  :)

@MartynRich: sorry, there is no another notch to my voice  ;D Glad you liked anyhow   :)

@Paulski, well, what can I say except thanks!  :-*
