While I go frantically finishing my comp entry, here is one from a while back. Very rock-poppy this one, but I won't say anymore than that...

Say It Again

And I´ll say it again
There was always been
A way to find another
Lady like my friend

If I´m holding back
I´m in a restless mood
Creating all the time
A never-ending feud

And if I say you were a reason to be
It´s coz I hoped you´ll find something in me

If I say too much I will say it again
What´s the point of stupid games if they never end?

If the tears flow
Just the way it goes
Dream up another skin
To hide away the lows

Keeping cool
Never been a fool
Dreaming up some give and take
Keeps me back to you

And if I say you were a reason to be
It´s coz I hoped you´ll find something in me

If I say too much I will say it again
What´s the point of stupid games if they never end?

If the tears flow
Just the way it goes
Dream up another skin
To hide away the lows

If I say too much, I will say it again
What´s the point of stupid games if they never end?

Martyn, you deserve to have your knackers carefully removed from the rest of your body with a red hot knife. Anyway, back to your song. I really enjoyed it. Ok it's eighties sorta power rock but wtf. Love the vocs and the power chords  :) Pint waiting for you at the Colin Campbell  ::)

Cheers our kid

some lovely guitars at the start & this was my favourite part of the song so im glad you repeated it...then the big ballad guitars roar in & take it to Bon Jovi platinum seller land !
it sounds a bit dated with those power chords but I still like some of that massive global arm waving sound

your wife has a realy good voice & the song has some very catchy moments....
at first i didnt think the lyrics made sense bcos they arent written any way that way youd talk ...& that was accentuated by your wifes accent which sort of worked against them a bit

martyn I know im always complaining about things being out of tune in your songs but the lead guitar sounded a bit out of tune  :)
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

@John - thank you for the compliments. Yes a bit 80s but what the heck, that´s where I learned about music :) See you down the pub

@Tina - thanks for the compliments but you´ve finallly beaten me into submission. From now on it´ll be all synths and Cher-effect vocals  ;D

Yo Marteeen senior.

Liked the song, yer missus alternated very well between the quiet bits and the rowdy bits. I reckon she could do a fair old impression of Axel Rose, what with him having a gurly type voice,in his early days at least.  :)

The only part that jars a bit with me is the 'reason to be' line. It sounds rushed and distracts a little. Could be just me,mind.

Rock on Marty boi.  8)

Martyn,
Good power ballad nicely sung and with a very powerful chorus. Its one of those set of chords you just have to repeat over and again and slowly fade on the outro, maybe with some soloing as well. ;D
I do like it but think some further mixing and recording could make it more powerful and poignant and end up with that repeating slowly fading ending...
And agree with sub about the 'reason to be line' for me it should scan with something in me
 :)

Ha! I love me a power ballad!! It's all about the chorus and this one doesn't disappoint mate.Yeah the mix could use a little TLC but you alluded to this being an old track so I imagine you've learnt a lot since then.Your wife sings this very nicely.

I can see the video for this...you guys on top of a mountain playing to a lonely eagle, big hair and shoulder pads!

So...how big is this vault of yours? Are we talking Prince?? Or more like Chesney Hawkes??!!  ;D  ;D

Nice epic feel to this one with some epic guitar work to going along with it (and some epic drums fills!!).

Liked the break down to acoustics at the end.

All in all it delivers on the epic ballad promises very nicely.

Tom.

Thanks again for the reviews...I was interested to see what kind of reaction it got because it´s definitely not one of my favourites (in my opinion), yet it is easily the one that has come nearest to being published on a few occasions. I´m not talking just an ´oh yeah, that´s lovely´from an A&R man either...

To be honest though, I doubt I would produce something like this again.

@lostboy - I am the one and only!  ;D

Lovely ballad,

Great guitars and your wife sings really well.

Love the different segments in the song.

One to chill out to at night to.

Well done

Hi Martyn,

Very good song.
I do like power ballads. Thought your good lady carried it off very well.
Definitely no Cher-effect vocals please - I hate that sound with a passion. ;D
Liked the builds within the song.
As an 80s rock fan it sits well with me.

yes definatly got that stadium thing  flickering mobiles
real nice gtr leading it in
strong passionate vocal and a stand up chorus really good and harks back ..
hits those buttons and can understand why you got some interest in it..
bridge is kind of queen like and a little wobbly i thought but i get the picture .
think its well worth tinkering under the bonnet cos this could really roar
it might be retro but what isnt these days..

i may not believe this tomorrow...

Lovely. Really beautiful song and very well sung. Highly impressive and enjoyable.

I prefer the stripped down verses - but I get the need to go big. I think it could be even bigger if you're going to go into rock mood. It felt like those sections still had one foot in the acoustic world. Just go for it and blaze away. I think the song and the vocals are easily capable of supporting a full on rawk arrangement.

Cracking work.

Favourite lyric. Very honest and fits in nicely with the tune.
