I think my favourite thing about writing and recording music is being able to experiment with such a wide variety of soundscapes which can change the whole complexion of a song. This song started off as a bit of a soundscape experiment then morphed into a song with a fairly trippy feel. The lyrics are pretty lightweight, I'll be the first to admit  :)

Anyway, here it is....

Cheers

John

Acid Drop

Feels like a pain that will never stop
Feels like a little acid drop
On it's way
Just for a day
Let your mind play havoc for a day
As it blows your mind so far away

Can't stop it
Don't want it
It's my little acid drop
Don't fight it
Ignite it
My acid drop
Can't stop it
Don't want it
It's my little acid drop
Don't fight it
Ignite it
My acid drop

How does it feel when you reach the top
Feels like a little acid drop
On it's way
Just for a day
Let your mind play havoc for a day
As it blows your mind so far away

Can't stop it
Don't want it
It's my little acid drop
Don't fight it
Ignite it
My acid drop
Can't stop it
Don't want it
It's my little acid drop
Don't fight it
Ignite it
My acid drop

Weeeeeeeeeee, I´ve just flown all the way to the North Pole and back...great cacophony of sound John and one the better songs I´ve heard from you lately. Really triptastic stuff even though I can´t quite work out the meaning of the lyrics  ;D

I love how the synths come together on this, while the sudden overlay of subtle guitar at various points works a treat. Melodically very good and also sung with a lot of conviction. My one constructive suggestion would be on the line ´My little acid drop´where you repeat F-G-Am again and again. Maybe on the last one you could go back to F-Em7 instead of Am, to give it more of a resolution? Power chord the b*stard as well for good measure.

But hey, I´m far our there, remembering Coventry and sitting in a bedsit somewhere not remembering my name again. I´m transfixed by the butterflies in the corner  ;D Fab.

Hi John,

This is very cool.
Love the way you sing "let your mind play havoc for a day."
Great use of synths. Spacey, but with a dark undercurrent.

I thought it was a song about those sweets called acid drops :)

wow thats clubtastic john! sounds like youve been shopping at the psychedelic supermarket & totally emptied the dance aisle :
super dancey beats ...obviously on special offer today
realy fab bass fresh from the bass counter
& super fizzy bubbly synths filling  your trolley  from the fizzy synths section
I love that thing playing that melody at 1.36 ?

anyway its a great tune with club drug lyrics & your keyboards definitely sound like they are on something strong! I love the way that whizzy synth sounds like a police siren ...maybe its the drug squad wanting a word with your casio!
anyway great vocals & great work making it sound so fabulous  :)

Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

I caught this a ween o' days ago pomps. At least I think it was a ween o' days ago, with the amount of acid I've been dropping lately it's hard to be definite....maaan.  8)

Catchy, hooky and out there floating in a sea of reverb while drinking Coors light from a discarded bikini top, maaan you could get a pint in one side and a tube of sour cream and onion pringles in teh udder side.  8)

I'm trippin out doood..

Nice work John.

Wah ! - Thanks guys, comments so much appreciated. I achieved what I set out to do.

Tina - The effect at 1:36 is just another guitar rig FX - Can't remember which one, I'll have a look  :)

Cheers

John

Nice squelchy stuff. Old school synth arpegs are sounding great.

Some lovely harmonies too.

Lots of great details to enjoy throughout but I did feel it went on a bit long in the same vein and needed something to freshen it up on the way or just a to be a little shorter.

Your experiments are always and fascinating listen. Keep messin' about!  ;)

Tom.

Great Experimentation,

The synths take me back to the 80s.....waiting for Ashes to Ashes Bowie to appear.

Love how you have blended all the sounds so well.

I think the lyrics are fine, they don't need to be more complicated.

The music sets the scene really well.
