you sound  different on this tom …..about 4 years younger I reckon
this is lovely ...very melodic & simon & garfunkely & it sounds like a song from a bygone time with that hippyish lyric...you are a  troubadour or is it a minstrel.. anyway all your songs are so likeable & have instant appeal...you could set up in my high street & have a instant crowd
Thats a lovely sound from your guitar ...realy rich & deep it almost sounds like theres a bass  guitar  in there
...i dont know what prosody is so I cant say if youve got it or not  :)
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

This is beautiful Tom, easily my favourite of yours. Superb guitar playing and vocal delivey. The song has it all...and done in one take. Cool.

Maybe could have put a middle 8 or little break but who cares about those when you deliver with such conviction? Good luck with this one in the competition.

Hi Marty.....thanks for stopping by! Yea, a middle 8 would have been nice, but I write them as I hear them. And thanks......there are some awesome writers and players here (yourself included) that are in this comp  ;D I'll need a lot of luck!

Haven't even listened yet and already this is a favorite of mine.  LOVE the superlative lyric.  LOVE the underlying theme.  Love the folk feel to the lyric.  And, I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the lyric when I go listen after typing this.

When I went to listen, I did NOT like the music.  .  .  then I discovered that somehow I had double clicked when I should click, and was playing the song twice with a second's difference offset between the two.

Sounded awful.  But then when I caught on, and shut off the offending second recording, it sounded like I expected from you.  Wonderful music to go along with a wonderful lyric.  Excellent prosody between the music and the vocal/lyric.

Thanks for the most generous comments, hardtwist. I appreciate them. Thanks again

Hi Tina....naw, I sing this the same now. And I am neither a troubadour or a minstrel.....just a guy who loves playing and writing songs on his little guitar (keeps me out of trouble).
And to tell you the truth, I was really happy with the way my little Boss micro br-4 picked up the guitar.....it really sounded great. I just held my guitar (and myself) really close to the built-in condenser mic  8) 8)  cool, hu?
Thanks for stopping by.......and good luck to you on the contest. Your song is sure to stand out!

thanks everyone!

Hi Tom,

Very nice playing and vocal.
This seems stripped down in all respects, simple arrangement, and wonderfully understated production - like you are busking outside my door.

Good luck in the comp.

Thanks Digger.....I'm trying to focus more on writing songs that don't rely on big arrangements. My recordings are very difficult to do because of my busy household  :o ;D
Thanks for listening and commenting!

Thanks everyone!

Lovely guitar playing! I think I've said before that I'm not much for 1+1 songs but man,  this is one glaring exception. All the pieces in the right place and it sums up to something bigger than its parts. You really set the bar for the competition high with this one!
Respect!

Hi Tom
Lots to enjoy here even though it is a stripped down recording.
I like the guitar playing, vocals are perfect and everything had a fresh sound.
The title kind of gets abandoned but that's my only tiny nit.

Good luck in the comp - this should do well.

Hi Paul......thanks for stopping by ;D
But, how do you think that the title, "Lost" is somehow abandoned  ???
(Inquiring minds must know ;) )

Hi Tom
Just me and my old school ways :)
You mention "lost" in the first line but never again in the lyric.
So, if I want to remember the name of the song when I hear it on the radio without the lyrics in front of me I might not. But then again I'm always forgetting my cell number too :)
I suppose you could call it "God Only Knows" but then you're in Beach Boys territory...

I see your point, Paul.........but, although the title was not repeated, throughout, I did however, keep on theme, and on point. All verses explain how she became "lost"...while the chorus gives up a snap shot visual of her happenstance.
This is one of those songs that just spilled out on the page, writing itself.
A lot of fun. Thanks for stopping by.........

Nice 'open' sound. Good playing and great voice. Fits the brief well. Love the image of climbing the mountains and even the trees to better see the moon.

The guitar is just awesome :). I just had to listen for a few seconds and I fell in love.
I also like the fact that you really tell a story. It makes your song really interesting to listen to.
I wish you all the luck you need in this competition. :)

Love,
Nielse
