Ive never been in a chance of getting fifth or upwards in a competition before. Im quite excited. I did enter the International Song Competition once, waste of time and money. This is much better.

Lol, wasn't being sarcastic. I've already heard better music on this forum than I have through a mountain of competition winners.

Take the UK winner last year. Great song and all that but it wasn't exactly original. Just very well produced and performed.

Hey, I wasn't joking either....well, having a bit of fun maybe.

You're right. There is some good stuff on here.

When I think on that and us only being a small number of members, I figure that there must be a LOT of good music being produced out there by thousands of people which only gets heard by their families and dogs. The chance that I'm ever going to make more than a few bucks out of my songs has got to be pretty slim!

You know what would be great - if people abandonned the music industry, stopped paying £1 a track and instead paid like 20p per track from the multitudes of unsigned artists out there.

In my mind the listeners would get better, less commercially-focussed, mindless, sanitised music. The artists may not get filthy rich, but would at least have a chance of making a decent living. And when a real talent comes through they might not waste it because the fame, money & drugs go to their heads.

Anyway that's my tuppence for the day. Voted.

Glad the selection isn't easy, you're producing some great and varied stuff.

Thanks for all the votes, please keep the trickle/torrent of votes coming in.

Chickenfeet - you're confusing the hell out of me with you constant change in handle - I'm sure you're right about the volume of stuff thats out there, but that's a problem, how to differentiate and be heard in such 'noise'. And as Martyn suggests the songs seem to be less important when the entry level is top notch produced and performed.

Doodles, people will always follow the money. The internet age is changing the business models around where artist make money ( live/streaming/clothing etc) but not sure about stuff not going to people heads..

Vicki, re deadline midmight your time will be ok cause i won't do anything till i get out of bed - there's an image I thinki'll leave you all with  ;D

Good turnout, 18 votes.
However the counting officer has had to get involved as there appears to be some confusing on a voting slip which is just being looked into. More coming soon...
