Ok
There is a competition in the local rag for the best new song in the area . Phew ! I may have to play live. Wow I am quite getting into thinking about that experience. My question is do you think I have even a slighted chance against x factor nineteen year olds ? If the answer is yes or no I don't give a fff ig and am going for it  ;D

If it's really all about the song then you'll have no problems. If it isn't all about the song then you'll have no problems either because from what I've seen you "have it"...

Haven't yet heard an X-Factor 19 year old song-writer that you won't knock-out in the first! (although the ref should stop it before it gets to that stage)

Thanks so much for all of the encouragement guys. Have registered and just waiting to hear back about the format of the comp. Don't know if I will be allowed to use backing tracks but to be honest would prefer to just go up acoustic and "Naked" so to speak and give it s**t. Haven't played live seriously for 20 years apart from little bros wedding last year so really looking forward to the experience. Will keep you all posted  :)

Go for it John.

Will there be a write-up in the Portsmouth Evening News online? My wife looks at that. She was born in Waterlooville.....her bro' still lives in North End.

Good luck!
Take it easy.

You can check my stuff out here. Mini-album getting bigger slowly. Free download if you're poorer than me.

Hi Viscount. I think The News will be giving this quite a bit of attention. They did last year. I will let you know. Cheers John

The closing date for the competition is today and I have to do four songs acoustically. Not a problem apart from the last gig I did was twenty years ago  :) there are five heats. To be honest I am just treating this as a practice to get in front of an audience again. I am going to be paying Polystyrene smile, music in my head, home with you, and end of therapy. Amazing how different those songs sound acoustic. I have played the whole set to my dogs who were bemused to say the least but they did get a biscuit when I finished. Maybe I should take a packet of custard creams to throw at the audience. Rock and ROLL  :)

When is the competition? Definitely give it some large...I´ve only heard End of Therapy but it´s a great song. I´m sure it´ll be a brilliant experience.
