I am the master of starting songs and not finishing them. One good way I have found to help finish new songs is to play them to an audience of fellow musicians/songwriters and get feedback. That's not always easy to arrange in person, but I do it with an online audience on StreetJelly (
www.streetjelly.com). There are a lot of talented songwriters on there, so it's a great way to test out new material before going into the studio or playing it at venues. Plus it's free.
