Hi formats,
Just wondered whether there's interest and appetite for new competition?
We haven't got a Xmas one running so perhaps we could target something for Easter.

It would need a couple of volunteers to run it, so they can participate as well.

What worked well a couple of years ago, I think Crystal Suzie was involved, was that collaboration was encouraged. You could put a solo effort in but also a collaborative one. We were paired by the organisers with others to work together.

We'd also need a theme, maybe Spring, birth or renewal?

For me this is the nearest to being commissioned to write a song and the deadline helps motivate the creative juices..

I remember that collab very well Neil :) It was a lot of fun and I thought the outcome was pretty good ;D

Why don't we think of doing a Valentine's comp:-*

It's far enough away and January's kind of a slow month  ::)

Maybe we could have a love song with a twist challenge, or write something in a genre
that you've never written in before :o

I like those ideas, though I'm running out of genres :)

Valentines Days a runner
or how about April Fool or April Fools Day
all kinds of conatations and maybe a few smiles..
we could complicate it/make it interesting by losing points for using Love in the woirds.
i may not believe this tomorrow...

How about chosing some lyrics and everyone writes a song and uses the same lyrics

We could use the lyrics section monthly competition winner for Dec or Jan.
Trouble with one lyric is some musicians might not like the one chosen and bail so you get fewer participants.

Re morefrogs idea unfortunately the lyricasts couldn't participate in the competition.
So theres a theme love/valentine /twist/no use of the word 'love'. We appear to have some momentum and at least one volumteer  ;D
Do we like the idea of encouraging collabs?
I'd suggest if Adam can get a co-worker to help and allow them to participate then they can set things in motion!

Eeek - stuff became real! Good.

Now which enthusiastic and organised person is going to help run this thing?

Don't like the idea of not being able to use the word 'LOVE'  ::) If that's in...I'm out  :)
IMO, I think if we put too many rules, of do and don't, we'll loose entrants  ::)
I think collabs should be encouraged, but solo entries as well...maybe one of each, max  :o

All fair points - now I think we need to take decision and live with it - "love song with a twist" sounds wide enough but interesting enough to me....

In the interests of democracy can I suggest getting any more ideas in over today and tomorrow and then plump for something?

Just saw another suggestion from Den for an environmental song. Also interesting but challenging - and quite Springlike...
