Apologies.

Actually I did also listen to your other two songs Paladins and Hypnoptic and my final comment was based on listening to all three songs.
I'm not very eloquent and my musical knowledge is limited but essentially IMHO what I'm trying to say is that perhaps melodically your songs need to be stronger and more original to make you really stand out as a band. As I said previously, at present I think you're relying too much on the production and outstanding vocal performance of your female lead singer. To be brutally honest a lot of your vocals are based on relatively simple sometimes repetitive patterns that I've heard many times before, dating back to the 70s.
Listening to Blues Rocker for instance, melodically the opening four lines are reasonable though not that original. However then the line "Outside, inside of me, she’s like a polyphonic muse man you wouldn’t believe ." is essentially on two notes (F and G) with the occasional minor third up (Bb) . "She’s a blues rocker, sing like ya, like you know" is also only on the same three notes, etc.  Consequently there is also very little variation in the key of the backing chords.
The intro of Hynoptic is again reasonably interesting, but when the vocals start, it's back to the same  two notes with the minor third pattern. The chorus is also based on the same three notes with a different rhythm. The bridge only adds an additional note, although there is some good harmonisation.  Paladins is melodically similar but with the male vocal including a 7th in places.

Again apologies if this seems far too negative, but it's good to focus on your weaknesses. Your strong points are obviously your overall musicianship, sound and vocals, you just need to add more originality and variety to your melodies. If you're completely content with the style of music you're recording that's fair enough. After all, people will always find it enjoyable, especially when performed live.  However, it doesn't seem to be exactly ground breaking, not to me anyway.

Obviously this is only my opinion and may be total garbage, so don't be too disheartened. I can tell you've put an awful lot of effort into your tracks and you have real talent as performers.

Best of luck,

Alex S

I think that's fair enough.

I honestly don't believe the melodies are a "weakness" of ours. Original doesn't always equal "good", and with our style of music, a lot of melodic variation isn't always desirable. We like to keep things simple and approachable. If that bores you that's fair enough, not every style of melody/music will be for everyone, but I think to state it as a matter of fact that we "need to add more originality" is a bit over the top. Everybody will have a different viewpoint on that.

I'm always happy to receive negative comments, I really don't have a problem with a lot of what you have said, and it does give us things to think about, but to word some opinions as if it's hard fact doesn't seem like the way to go, nor is it at all constructive.

Technically it sounds competant and the female vocal is great. I can imagine this would go well live. There are a lot of ideas and different sections coming at me thick and fast but i don't think it hangs together as a whole. It does have plenty of energy though. (I'm just off for a lie down) :P

HI Krish,

Production sounds really good. It reminded me of Roxette a little, or a modern heavier version of them. If anything there are too many ideas to digest in one or two listens, but I think the more time the listener spends with it the better it gets. The melody might not grab you instantly, but there's plenty about it to keep you interested.
As for "originality," two of my favourite bands openly said they stole from everyone and they didn't do bad for themselves - The Beatles and The Doors.

All the best,

Digger
