Hey all,

I got myself an old midi keyboard for Xmas and this is my first foray into the world of midi instruments and electronic music.

It's a bit raucous but I kinda like it.

I still don't really know what I'm doing at this stage but I'll get better hopefully.

If I had a dollar for every silly mistake I've made I'd have another know.

Hola @dchip

Well, it was a big premiere!!! The track has depth, movement and landscape, I think you'll be able to find your colors right away!!! Happy New Year

That wasn't bad and has the root of a decent tune. It's short but still felt too long - really needs more changes and development, such as different musical sections, or at least bring in different instruments/sounds to mix it up a bit. Hopefully you can do some more - a promising start to your midi creations.

@moraamarolaloba Thanks, you are very kind. I'm still fumbling along at present of course but it's a great journey and one that I am enjoying very much. Happy New Year.

@Bankie Thanks for the critique. Yeah, it's certainly lacking and could use a makeover. TBH at this stage, knowing so little, I was just happy that I made something that sounded somewhat musical so I threw it up for feedback...lol. But yes, there's plenty of room for improvement. Thanks for the encouragement and taking the time to share some insights with me. I listened to a lot of your stuff and dude, you do great work!
Happy New Year.

You're getting some really interesting sounds there - the low "digeridoo" sound is great and the mid/high synthy sound is promising too. Probably need some more thoughts about melody and percussion but definitely something going on here.

Happy new Christmas toys.  I you'll be flying very quickly.  A fine instrumental that takes us on an interesting journey, leaving the listener to fill in the blanks with their own imagery.  I can easily imagine how lyrics and vocal melody could weave into the soundscape.

Good work

Hi dchip.

It's alway cool when you discover new sounds/toys and this can often lead to purple patches of creativity.

It's a great base for a track and an encouraging outlook for future compositions.

@dchip As has already been said, there's some nice sounds here. It's all based around the same run down as it stands so it comes over as a bit repetitive. As work in progress I'd say this has loads of potential. Play the hell out of that old keyboard and enjoy it!! :)

Thanks for taking the time to listen and give feedback, I really appreciate it.
Unfortunately I've only had the one go on the keyboard so far, what with one thing or another.
If I had a dollar for every silly mistake I've made I'd have another know.

Yes…some cool sounds here.

My t’uppence worth would be to get some lyrics cooking for this and expand on it…it’s quite traditional in its structure, so would lend itself well towards that goal.

And remember, a MIDI keyboard is for life, not just for Christmas 😀
