Hello

I was really happy to be asked to run this months lyric competition.

I was wondering what the members think about having an amnesty on the 100-post rule for just one month in an attempt to draw more people in to the lyrics section...

I'm more than happy to go along with the consensus of opinion...it was just an idea...any thoughts?

   Paul,
I'm with you on this one man. Why exclude a good song or lyric, just because someone hasn't been around the block. Oh!, and congrats on winning the song of the month. I think you deserved the double.

Just a thought, but how about reducing it from 100?

i.e. high enough to exclude people that post and run, but low enough to give newbies the chance to contribute to the forum for a week or two and get into the competition.

Good idea, Ben...that's along the lines of what I was thinking :)

Cheers!

Not sure it'll make a tangible difference, to be honest. There's been a bit of a take-up in the lyric section just lately...which is great. I didn't really have a figure in mind...i just thought that if a great lyric was posted that didn't have 100 posts behind it, whether I could maybe turn a blind eye...just this once...

PaulAds,
As nobody has suggested otherwise I'd go for it then and see what interest you get in turn of participation in voting.

Cheers, Neil :)

I'll continue to keep an eye out...and if I do slightly bend the rules, I'll try to make sure that it's for something that everyone can understand.

I'm on board Paul.  I've always understood the reason for the rule, but never totally agreed that it was accomplishing more good than bad.

I think you've got enough consensus here to just do it and give it a try.

Paul,
This will clearly open up the number of songs you can chose from. The test for me will be will this make a difference to the numbers of people who vote as a result of the lifting of the 100 posts rule?
Lets see.
