Hi,

My name is Alan & I'm a 49 year old who has come very late to songwriting and guitar playing although I've been a dobro player in an Americana band for several years. Over the past 12 months I've written a dozen songs which have gone down well with friends and family but I have no idea if they are any good at all. So I plan to post some on here over the next few weeks and see how they go. It's really hard to know whether I have something or if I'm just kidding myself. I guess a lot of people on this forum would feel the same. Should I just post my basic acoustic guitar and voice recordings or should I post fully arranged songs?

Alan

Hello and welcome!

Post the songs however you feel most comfortable. A simple guitar vocal is absolutely fine, but I'd you have already worked on some arrangement there is some benefit of showing that too :)

Dive into the review board and see how others post and review to get an idea. Review a few songs first, then post one of your own, and I guarantee you'll find a warm welcome :)

Hi Alan

Welcome to the forum :) Whereabouts in Devon are you? I'm just over the border in Somerset, but I do occasionally play gigs and open mics in East Devon.

Tone,

I'm near Totnes in south Devon. I was brought up in Ottery St Mary so I know East Devon well. That border between East Devon and Somerset is a beautiful part of the county.

Alan :)

Ah, Totnes is very beautiful. Try not to feel sorry for me, but I grew up in Plymouth, so I'm very familiar with your neck of the woods!

Good to have you on board
