Hi

« on: March 21, 2012, 11:48:15 AM »
Hello,
I'm brand new here, i'm a hobbyist songwriter. Been in bands before as a singer, got fed up and picked up a guitar to try and write songs myself.
Ideally i would like to perform solo... but need to write some better songs first.

Hey domj. Welcome to the forum

If you're gonna eventually perform solo (and i'm assuming on acoustic guitar?) I'd recommend you get a blues harmonica and neck brace.

Got one for Christmas and I'm completely hooked! Plus it" fills out" a song when you play it.

R.e. the forum; just jump right in listening and reviewing. Opinions are always welcome :)

I had thought of using a harmonica and neck brace... but i fear people will think i'm a Dylan or Neil Young wanna be. I do whistle as fill ins for some songs.
I might get one and try it out.

Thanks.

True, true, but Dylan and Young are great, so who wouldn't want to be like them :)

I played an acoustic sittin on the dock of the bay a few weeks ago and the crowd did the whistle solo at the end for me hahaha! Awesome night

I'd say go for the harmonica. If you've thought about it you're obviously tempted, so do it for you!

Wow, I can be a real devil on your shoulder sometimes

I've been looking them up. Apparently the Hohner blues band ones are the best cheap option. I spose i would have to get a set  :-\
I find the idea more appealing.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)
