Hi Paul, One of you less 'intense' songs ;),but all the better for that. Lovely light airy guitar sounds, delicate singing and some great guitar flourishes too. I read Anthony Beevor's book Stalingrad quite a few years ago, and the brutality and death was mind bendingly awful, so well done for taking such a difficult subject and making not about the death, but about the lives of the people . I was trying to think who it made me think of and when I read PaulyX's comments he hit the nail on the head.....Aztec Camera....

Great song Paul and definitely improved by your preview 8)

Cheers

A very interesting and enjoyable song, thanks for taking time out to explain its background and origin, a fascinating story.
I thought the production was 1st class and loved the drums, bass and guitar. I also thought the lead break was terrific. Considering you said the words were written very quickly I am very much in awe of your lyric writing talents as they are concise, well constructed and developed  the tale nicely as the song progresses.
My only two minor comments would be that the introduction is a bit long  as just when you think the song is going to start at the 24 second mark the intro  starts up again, I also think the chorus instrumentation should be developed more with maybe some  backing vox, strings or a pad etc. Obviously, just my personal opinion, but still a really good song though.

Brilliant n catchy vocal hook in the chorus. And yes-as others have said-it definitely doesn’t need a mid8. Really accomplished and a fascinating source of inspiration. Equally, the chorus fits in with the current climate... I’m hiding indoors from the kids today as we’re “never ever not together” 🥴😆
great job man. Hope lock down treating everyone well. Keep on keeping on! Cx

Hi Paul,

Love that descend into the chorus.
Very well crafted song.
Thought the kick sounded really good. Wasn't sure if the snare was a tad too in your face?

I really enjoyed the film. Will have to dig out the book if it offers another story.
