When looking through my profile, I saw something that said if I wanted to get notices when someone posted to a specific board, I should check the box in the index of that board. I can't find the checkbox. Anyone know where I'm not looking?

If you click on your profile and then under 'modify profile' on the left of your screen you'll see a subsection 'notifications and email'. Click on that and there's several options to personalise the forum.

Yeah, I was looking all through there yesterday. I see lots of choices, but I don't understand any of them to be indicating they would reveal a box in the boards that would enable me to get notifications from the boards in which I checked that box.

I do know I'll get notifications from any boards in which I've made any comments. Sometimes I would like to get updates from a board where I have made no comments. Apparently, there is a way to turn on boxes in the boards for that purpose, but I can't find where to do that in my profile settings. Maybe I'm just not understanding what the descriptions mean?

The options are:
Quote
-Receive forum announcements and important notifications by email.
-Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply.
-Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.
-When sending notification of a reply to a topic, send the post in the email (but please don't reply to these emails.)
I already have all of those checked, so none of them are doing what I'm talking about.

What am I missing?

I don't use this feature so I am not 100% sure what these settings do

Underneath those settings is an option to receive notifications from boards by clicking on the "notify" button in the index of the board

I have had a look and there is an "Options" drop down to the right of the title bar of each particular board

I tried to get the menu to drop down but this isn't working on my iPad - I wonder if this will give you the notifications you are looking for?

That bit underneath the settings looks like it's just for choosing under what circumstances I want to be notified on the board where I've already chosen to be notified. Which is irrelevant since I can't find a way to choose to be notified in the first place. And none of the options appear to be to notify me of every message, no matter what.

I also am unable to get the menu you mentioned to drop down, so maybe that's where it is. I'm going to try a different browser.... ::pause::

Okay, no dropdown in Chrome, but it will drop down in Firefox! And what I am after is indeed in that dropdown. So I just have to go to Firefox every time I want to subscribe to a board.

Thanks!
