Feedback on Finished songs / Re: Jack the Lad

Thank you 🙏 I’ll post the lyrics.

I agree. I’m going to re- do the vocals and sort the panning out.

In terms of length, I’m going to redo the first chorus and halve the first bridge. Hopefully this will allow for more variety.

Thanks again, very much appreciated.

Great first song. Beautiful singing and lyrics. I don't usually feel competent to offer advice on production, but I think the vocals are panned too far right. I also like to read the lyrics in advance, so it would be cool if you'd post them. I'm sure people will think it's too long. I like long songs, but this one was a little too the same all the way through. I like the addition of the film scenes. That broke it up nicely, but I feel like the music would benefit from some changes, the addition of some new sounds; something to keep the listener from knowing what to expect. Really well done, though.

Really interesting piece...

To try and help...pulling the bass up and getting it cooking with the drums would be my suggestion of the most immediate way of improving it. The drums could do with having a clearer idea of where they are heading...they seem a little random currently.

Pretty good atmospheric sound you have going...definitely has something I found fascinating about it.

Nice work...hope you stick around :-)

Really sweet love song. Reminds me of J. Geils Band for some reason. Perfect music for Katie's awesome lyrics. Well sung both of you.

Funky bass and background vocals. Love the guitar solo. Left me wanting more.

Very nice slice of jaunty pop, Jack.

I was going to mention the La's towards the end...then I thought I'd best check if anybody else had mentioned them...so I won't.

I think someone also mentioned that maybe a fade-out would be better for the gentle rolling feel of this too...I thought that was a good call too...but it's a minor detail, really.

It's up to your usual high standards, though...great album track, I'd guess.

Oh...and the VW Corrado? Fairly short-lived replacement for the Scirocco...a very cool car...with an element of danger to it. Always fancied one back then...I used to have a Scirocco...

Can't offer much more than praise for this. Like everything about it. Lyrics were captivating, and I didn't know what to expect from them. Something about it made me think of the Cohen brothers. I could imagine them building an entire film around this. Dark with an underlying humor. Very cool.

Cracking stuff ,Davy...vocals are sounding really good here. And your guitar-ing is about as good as it gets.

Cool insight in the lyric too. A great listen!

Really classy, this!

Lyrics are brilliant...and so well delivered.

I love how the electric and acoustic guitars take turns at whacking the riffs out. I was just typing how excellent the lead guitar is...and the tiny bit around 2:13 was the only thing that I thought wasn't a 100% knockout...seems silly even mentioning it...it's nowt, really...'twas just a thought.

Great production...the sound seems to leap out of speakers too...very cool.

I bought some good monitors a few weeks back...and this is the sort of thing that takes advantage of them...in fact, I fired up something I'm working on and tried to figure out what I could learn from this...so thanks for that too!
