Resources & Marketing / Re: Cheap and easy promotion
« Last post by Whiskey Club on Yesterday at 10:34:27 PM »
@Elvis Nash Hope it all works out well.  I’ve taken a different track because I’ve no commercial interest.  I’m just a hobbyist.  But, I do want people to hear my music so I spend far more time on promotion than on writing and producing.  I’m fine with that though because I’ve found that I actually enjoy it.  To me promotion is as much a part of the whole process as writing. So, a song isn’t finished until I hit my target Spotify streams and the next song will not be released until that happens.  Spotify is useless commercially of course but it is most of the market when it comes to the demographic that is open to hearing new music, so the Spotify data is the only metric that interests me nowadays. I’m happy to remain poor😂

I guess it depends if that radio station gets enough listeners and people like the song to buy it with a Pay Pal button for $1.50 , or buy the cd with a QR code to down load all the songs for $7.00 .
I don't like Spotify , But I guess with promotion you can get spins . Einstein said , Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. So I'm trying diffrent things to ROI

I love Spotify and also Meta.  They have their flaws as do we all but I’ll be forever grateful that they exist.  That a hobbyist like myself can make music in my spare bedroom and find people all over the world to listen to it is nothing short of a miracle to me.  And it costs nothing! There has never  been a better time in history to be an Indie artist and it’s all down to Meta and Spotify.

This is a fabulous journey back to the summer of love @rightly I love your choice of instruments and your vocal delivery. What I love about your music is that you just do your own thing and often choose the unconventional route which is the sign of a writer just doing what they want to do and why the hell not. Top stuff man 😀

@MonnoDB
Glad you enjoyed it, I've remixed it. Going to go through it again tomorrow to see if I think it's any better. I'll have a read up on mixing soon and see how it should be done.

@pompeyjazz  – interesting structure with the long chorus and the short verses, good to shake it up. I really like the breakdown section – some interesting things going on – reverse vocal? I wouldn’t even know how to do that.. Intriguing. Lovely vibe to the whole thing – love the slow meter / lyrical delivery, adds to the mood of the whole thing. Delighted to see you posting again :)

@calafinestrat  – Great rockin’ tune – love those heavy guitars. It’s a good song – you’ve got some good feedback on the mix from better mixers than me. As one who loves her reverb, I know it’s easy to go there but that vocal would better serve the song with less. It’s a good vocal – expose it!

Great listen..

@rightly  – as always, an intriguing production and as you say and uplifting positive song, a declaration of love no less, still with the characteristic lyrical twists and turns. I really enjoyed this – no surprise there. I really like the jaunty motif (not sure what instrument).. Nice one, sir!

@Nick Ryder – catchy melody, lovely little poppy number, Beatles influence strong – which can’t be a bad thing. Lovely production to these inexpert ears. I really like the lyric – simple theme but universal and a good message. I wasn’t sure about the pause before you brought in the last chorus. It felt like it could have ended on the “Don’t lose yourself….”s quite nicely and I think I might have done that myself but I understand why you’d want to go for that last chorus. Good song – enjoyed it.
