Hi everyone
Just wanted to say hello again as I joined this wonderful forum a couple of years ago but apart from reading some great posts and posting a little myself, I haven't been on much in the last couple of years. I kind of almost feel bad about it as I asked for a critique of some songs that had been written between me and my writing partner and I don't feel I gave enough back to other budding songwriters on here! So I'm sorry for that as I love this forum and everybody is so friendly and welcoming :-)
So I'm Dan and I was involved with in a songwriting production combo with somebody else for a couple of years but felt in the end that we would work much better as individuals as things were getting quite tense despite a good musical chemistry. With the respect to that person (don't worry not a member here!) he was very controlling and he was obsessed with how much attention his songs were getting all the time be it on the internet or out performing, bearing in mind he wrote 2/3 of the material. You may remember a song I entered into the summer comp a couple of years back called Filia which was soley written by me and boy did that cause all sorts of silly jealousy/arguments. It's a shame as he was at heart a good guy and a great writer but ultimately as much as he says he wanted a 50/50 partnership, I think his ego could only allow for him to be a solo artist. We're still friends and now I'm just helping produce some of his songs from my home studio and its freed me up to start working with other people and on my own and spend more time with my wife and 1 year old so happy days!
Anyway sorry for the long post but I'm hopefully going to be spending a fair bit more time here and look forward to meeting and discussing all things song related with you all. :)
