Hey All
I have just set up a very quick, one question poll on facebook which intrigues the marketeer in me ;D
You will need a facebook account to answer but you don't need to like/friend me to click an answer (but you can if ya like of course!)

I will reply here although i have an account....
i buy cd`s ,there pretty cheap these days and i don`t mind supporting the musicians who write and perform...i don`t download,,,,i have an mp3 cd /radio in the car which i don`t use...
I also use YT a lot...i like music with a video, plus theres all the golden oldies i like...i do think soundcloud is a good source of new music,,,but i don`t surf it.

I still buy CDs mainly
And I like to use YT and soundcloud for finding new artists (through this site for instance. Twitter is also ood for this)
CDs for full on album purchases tho ;D

My wife has always been less than impressed with the amount of CDs I have so about 6 months ago I bought a Sonos player and a spotify subscription and I love this way of listening to music
I have a WD media player in the living room connected to a logitech speaker
I even have a connection on my car and can download 3333 songs off line on iphone/ipad so thats all good as well
So I can listen to almost anything anywhere!

They offer trailered packages. I picked "everything that pays"
So ended up on itunes/amazon and other lesser known retailers
And spoitfy, rdio
There are rules: your music must be of a certain production quality, and likewise with the art work, or some vendors will reject it.
It seemed very reasonably priced. Worked out at around £45 with a UPC (international barcode).
Also: they sell your physical CDs too via amazon. The only catch here is that they ship from the US. So (a) I will have to post out 6 or so CDs to america and (b) anyone over here will pay stupid postage for it. Which is why I will be selling to UK and Europe myself through my own website using paypal.

Hi James. I still prefer a nice physical CD. They look nice in a row too. I tried lining up my MP3s on a shelf but it didn't work. I still like the lyrics to read and the other info that comes with CDs but as I'm an older chap, I long for vinyl albums which had readable print on them!! ;D

I like to buy CDs too - not because I'm so fond of having a physical copy for its own sake, but more because I find it a more reliable way of keeping a library of the music I like. If my computer/phone dies I can just rip my favourite albums again, instead of having to deal with backups etc, plus I have a CD player in the car, and I need TUNES on the way to gigs!

nimbit is another company that will put your music on all the online shops etc...
I like vinyls :). Feels more special having to go to all that effort to listen to the music...it's pretty fun :)

I remember almost writing off ipods when they first came out - why wouldn't you just want to put a cd on!?
A few years and 3 ipods later I am a total convert!
I have almost got my entire cd library ripped onto my ipod and have one hooked up to my car, a nano for running/gym and a bose sound dock in my kitchen (where I listen to music whilst cooking)
I still buy cds to put into itunes (I also seem to get cds as presents, which is a little more tangible and thoughtful than a e-voucher)
I don't often download albums, a mix of crappy internet connection and the confusion over the itunes protection thing (drm or not? - I think it has gone but it does seem a tad confusing and restrictive - I prefer plain old mp3)
I have put my cds into storage but can't bring myself to get rid completely - even though my itunes library is well backed up!
