Title: Graft
Post by: Soul Punk on May 10, 2012, 08:18:42 PM
Intended to be a fun depiction
simply of a working mans, realistic thoughts to get him through shifts
hope you all enjoy

Graft

Woke up smiling, sun was shining
sitting with the curtains drawn
run my fingers and rub my eyes
looking out at where I was born

Step back, let a man graft
after you've had your turn
that's all a man's got left

Count to ten, now do it twice
a denim shirt to hit the dirt
roll up your sleeves, just work
pride really being the only upside

Step back, let a man graft
after you've had your turn
that's all a man's got left

Do the hours, do the days
date the girls and drink the beer
then another shift closer to the grave
might as well live when you're still here

Step back, let a man graft
after you've had your turn
that's all a man's got left

Counting the minutes down
'Cause tomorrow you get paid
me and the boy hit the town
clicking our boots, blue masquerade

Step back, let a man graft
after you've had your turn
that's all a man's got left
