Title: the pace of this forum!
Post by: tina m on March 23, 2012, 02:41:49 PM
the pace this forum moves at lately is frightening... i just cant keep up with it ....so many new people every week & so many new songs  in the reviews section evry day!
you post a song 1 day & not much over 24 hours later its gone of the 1st reviews page & is forgotten
its impossible now to listen & comment on evryones work...ive abandoned commenting on lyrics becos i find it hardest & it takes more of my time
i cant abide people tho who dont even bother to try listening & giving feedback on others  work & just stick there stuff up here & run......
i will not be reviewing anybody who behaves like this now.... i used to but now there is not time anymore...if you cant be bothered with anybody elses work then  i cant be bothered with you

Yep, I joined in the summer of 2010 and it was kind of dead back then, well OK not dead but maybe a 3-4 of reviews a week. Tone has done a great job on this site and it has attracted a lot of quality members. I just don't have time to do a proper review at the moment but do pop in and out when I can and have a bit of a rant.

My personal rule is that if I post a song in the reviews section, I always review at least another 5. I think this rate is about fair. Although I don't think it should be compulsary as it is on other forums, I think it's respectful.

Well i`m a newbie...i`m post ing quite a bit at the moment , cos my tv`s not working ::)

Forums are not exclusive clubs, they either grow or they die......i agree that songs can disappear to quickly....but they could be saved  in another category..like a personnel file that others can look at,check out the back catalog
.

I agree Tinam.  :) There is a hell of a lot to get through these days so if you haven't

got loads of time it will be hard.

Personally I do it like this.

If someone is new and they haven't reviewed yet - I will still review their song and wait to see if they become  reviewer too.
If they don't and only ever post their own songs. I stop reviewing them.

Regulars who I know and who I know review always will get my time.

Long term and known members from the past who only turn up these days for a review of thier own stuff, (and there is one well known member
in particular that I am thinking of) I don't review. I won't mention the name but he's lost my attention. Especially because every time
he does pop his head back in, he makes it sound as if we should feel honoured that we can hear and review his stuff. Selfish and arrogant.
I used to love his stuff too :(

There are certain members who only show up when they have something to review... BUT, at they they do some reviewing while they are here and that
makes the difference to the above mentioned person.

If I haven't much time I will definately seek out songs by the regular supporters of the forum first.

That's about it really. It has become a great place with tons of new people with cool music and I'm loving it :)

I've been thinking just the same thing.

Had very little time to review recently, but have been "lurking" a lot off my phone (when I get a second between courses!) And the speed at which songs are coming has gone through the roof!

This is obviously a great thing having all this activity, but you're right Tina, some songs get 1-2 comments then they're lost in the depths.

Would increasing the number of threads displayed per page help, do we think?

As for those that don't review back, I think they get found out pretty quickly anyway. I just take a look at their number of posts to date and you get a feel for how active they are on the forum. I think Schavuitje is going for some kind of record hehe ;)

Maybe having genres ,like rock,pop,rap..that peeps could submit there songs into...would be useful .Then they would be more visible for longer

Ah but tone is an anarchist at heart. If he had his way there'd just be one single thread with everyone posting everything in it!

It's a good idea, but some people might resent being pigeon holed. then some might feel that theirs no folder for there nu folk prog metal.

Yes that's my rule too - if I didn't have time to post at least five (and I aim for more like ten) reviews for every song I post then I wouldn't post as many as I do.

I found it hard to keep up before and it's really tricky now.
However I've got a long weekend coming up so in  addition to actually spending some quality time with my girlfriend and trying to get a tune together for the short song comp I'll hopefully be able to do a few reviews and waggle my oar in and stir the murky waters of some other discussions.

But I'm really glad to see the site taking off and I'll take this opportunity to say hello to anyone new who's introduction I've missed in the rush!  :o ;D

Well i'm one of the new ones. But i tend to review far more than i post. I tend not to comment on people who just post their songs without listening to others because i think it's just plain unfair... though i do listen to their music and if it bowls me over i will comment because then i just feel like i'm being petty  :D
It seems a far more constructive forum than most.
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: James Nighthawk on March 23, 2012, 11:21:36 PM
It seems like the cheeky people get largely ignored. It is clear that the regulars on here always post on each other, which is how it should be. That keeps those people on page one longer, encouraging the less frequent members to join in, and letting the posters that don't really share and share alike fall through the cracks quicker.

The system seems to work. I doubt there is a perfect solution.

I also think that people on here are very good at spacing out their submissions. I try and post a song every few weeks. This gives me time to work on the songs and review more people in the interim. Some forums (not music ones mind) get hogged by certain members spamming the wall. It's great that doesn't happen here

Suppose what I am saying is, it could be much worse! I like it here  ;D
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: domj on March 24, 2012, 12:01:25 AM
I want to say thanks to the people who listened and commented on my song... but i don't want to bump it up and cause more clutter and confusion. Which is a bit of a problem, don't want people to think i'm unappreciative.

So thanks  :)

I agree it moves fast! Im undecided whether thats good or bad...
I have no idea how many reviews I post per song I post...but I've only posted about 5 songs anyway :P
But I'm sure the pace of things means that some songs from longer term members/people I know and who regularly review slip by me and I spend 5 mins reviewing a song from someone who will either never come back or only post their own stuff instead  :-\

seems like songs are lucky to hang around on page 1 for a day (Even less with a competition going) and I often dont look at the reviews to geeky on the recording forum bit...which means I can miss a few days of songs :).

The only problem is, it seems that the only people who will read or comment on this thread are people who are involved anyway...

But, I dont think it could be made better. I know on some forums, members are blocked from uploading or posting links until they have made a certain number of posts.
Theres a DIY forum I look at where for your first 5 posts you have to answer a series of really annoying questions - you really have to want to post!
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Kafla on March 24, 2012, 08:59:52 AM
I can't keep up either ;)

It stresses me a little but I can only spend so much time on here

It's sad that I have these rules but I never review anyone that doesn't review me - then when someone gets established on the forum - probably estreet and James nighthawk are the latest fully fledged members ( hope that makes sense) - I review all their work regardless if they comment on me or not

In the end , like life, you only really get out if this forum what you put into it :)

I have deliberately not bumped my last 2 songs up as well as I don't feel I have the time to review everyone else's work just now with tax year end pressures in my business

I am not ignoring all you lovely people though I can assure you ;D

And I'm finding that some people are becoming elitist w*nkers with their treatment of newbies trying to promote and the like

Perhaps, Schav, you should message this person and check their recent posts, there's always pleasant surprises about.
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Schavuitje on March 24, 2012, 01:58:34 PM
I don't appreciate the comment about elitist W*nk*rs right after you quote me.
First of all if you had said that to my face you'd be out cold.
Secondly you should better read what I wrote and take the "whole" of it into context.

I also said that I always review newcomers whether they have reviewed themselves or not!
I will do this for two...three songs maybe and if nothing ever comes back from that person I stop giving.
You can't just take you have to give to...  but I always review new people anyway and give them a chance to settle in
and start reviewing themselves.
It is my time I am giving and I can choose to spend it however I see fit. If that's ok with you dickhead!

And if you look at how many people I reveiw EVERY DAY then you wouldn't say what you said.
I give a lot of my time because I enjoy it.

In the long time I have been a member of these forums I have posted 8 songs. 8 in total.
So I certainly don't flood the forums with my own stuff and yet I am still here every day reviewing and trying to
help and encourage people.

Some people take the piss though and if you spend enough time on here you see it quite clearly. You don't need a super
I.Q. to read what many people do.
Because I spend so much time on here I HAVE to make choices. And even though I usually review MOST songs that appear on here,
there are some people who just take the piss.
If you have a problem with me deciding to not review those people I think take the piss, when there are a lot of forum supporters
to review and a lot of new people, then tough shit.
That's the way I do it.

I DO review the newcomers you are so worried about and I do spend my time welcoming them too in the introduction section.
I only stop reveiwing people if they don't give anything in return.
And I don't give a flying f*ck whether you like it or not.

Try concentrating and reading a whole post if possible before you start tearing it apart. Or you might look stupid...again.

Try looking at all the songs on page 1,2,3,4 and see how many there are that I didn't support or review... Hardly any!

How many do you review? Try keeping up beofre you start trying to tell me how I should approach reviewing people on these forums.

It's just a good job you are behind a computer screen after that f*ckw*t!

I think..peeps are getting a bit to wrapped up in this reviewing issue!
It`s not mandatory ,if a listener says your songs are great or junk....is their opinion valid..?

I have 3 sets of song lyrics in that particular section...and about 3 comments and 3 replies from myself....it won`t stop me putting some new stuff up or reading others.

( i had said that Corsair should not have said what he did, but deleted it, just in case i read it all wrong,seems some have more knowledge about things than myself}

By all means disagree with one another - this is an open forum, and I don't agree with censorship. But I think Dutchbeat is right. There's no need to get carried away.

I refer to my earlier comment (stolen from Kafla) - you get back what you put into this forum. Personal attacks only make you look bad in the end.

 :-\ Hmmmm,
I havnt been on for months, busy with other projects and sonwriting just not at the front of my mind.
Buuuttt, honestly, I think this is getting out of hand. We all have different opinions, different tastes, different interests. We contribute to different message boards...
Some are happy to review everything, others aren't, some have more time, others don't. Those who post and run, then don't review them!
Why get so worked up? Just chill, review what and who you want...kind of creates a bad atmosphere this policing reviews, like u feel guilty putting a song up

Chris

well i tend to think this argument is like if you dont own property yourself you dont care about other peoples property...get a house & a mortgage & you start to respect the order of things & suddenly want to protect what you got
so the more people get involved here the more protective & conservative they feel about this forum
young people like corsair are full of energy & ideals but do not own anyhting so they have no use for rules & conservative thinking

i still dont think theres any excuse for posting a song for review & ignoring other peoples.....quite honsestly if youve got time to post a song & keep coming back here to lap up the comments & leave replies on your own song then youve got time to give something back by reviewing someone else s work!!

Wow. This is the first time I have witnessed arguing on this forum. I thought this site was too good to be true! Alas, some Internet normality hehehe

Great comparison Tinam  :) real artists understand the blood and sweat that goes into making art. And as such are considerate towards others attempts.

It doesn't take long to learn the names of those on here kind enough to share their time, and respond in kind. The system will work without too much interference methinks

Schav, I posted that after quoting you to give my own complaint some context. I'm sorry, I realise that it was extensively easy to misinterpret and that's entirely my fault. I'm not calling you a wanker, schav, I respect you and your work even though when we've crossed paths it's often been in conflict.

The second point was legitimately a suggestion. I spaced it well apart to remove it from the previous statement in that post. Again, my wording was poor and all I can do is thoroughly apologise for that. I am sorry, I'm very sorry that I've caused strife and I seem to have done a fair portion of that lately. I have excuses to pull out but I won't try and use them because this forum is not the rest of my life and it's unfair I let the effects of the day leak out onto here.

I do believe you should talk to the person Schav. If it annoys you enough to make that initial post that was so strongly worded then it's by far best that you sort it with them in private before it boils over and starts to create rifts in the forum.

I wasn't intending any ill by any of those statements and their misinterpretation was entirely my fault. I'm sorry, I really am.

Just a little explanation for my outburst. Although first I'd like to say that your appology is accepted Corsair. Life's too short :)

I'm sharing this because I consider some of the people on this forum to be friends.

The incredibly short version is that my adult life living with agoraphobia and social phobia is the result of amongst other things
unthinkably bad bullying by my peers and others.
My life was altered on it's course by bullies. Bullies who did much more unthinkable things than call names, although that happened too.
The thing is I have grown since then. I am now 6'5" and not bullied anymore. People don't call me names because I really, really don't like it.
People have differences of opinion and that's cool. Being assertive about your point... Great. Even saying what things pee you off... brilliant.
I thought your argument for the lyrics forum to be merged with the review sectio was persuasive and in the end I think I wrote that now I was 50/50
and couldn't decide, which was not how I went into that discussion.
I'm all for debate and people airing their views or having a rant about unproper behaviour or I should say percieved improper behaviour. People have strong opinions
and that's all cool.
And thanks again for being big enough to appologise :)

I would like to appologise to the rest of you for my language. I saw red for reasons explained and I'm sorry.

fellow-forumers,

I just realised, just one more post from me, and i reach 1000 posts....this is number 999
and my status is already that of: "world domination"  ;D

why do i bring this up here? why am i spamming you with this completely irrelevant fact...?
must have been all the talk about the number of posts etc (but don't get me wrong i do take everybody's opnions and feelings serious)

i am bringing this up for no real reason, but i hope we are all doing ok (and thanks for explaining, Schavuitje) and that we will make some great songs separately and together in the future!

well, about potential presents as i hit a 1000 posts  ;D ;D...as you know i like to mix my songs with too many vocal tracks, the more i have of those the happier iget, and i was hoping that one day we could do sort of "do they know it is christmas time" track where all the songwriters that can sing a bit to very well would deliver one vocal track (in wav or mp3 format) on a song from one of uson the forum, and that i get to mix that.... ::) and add some synth sounds and samples...and make something weird of it with a choir of forumites

just a dream i have...but reaching a 1000 posts i thought this might be a good time to bring this idea up

I like this forum , some real genuine people on here, I do review peoples stuff but feel awkward about it , I have no real technical musical knowledge , which is probably why my songs are a bit wiered and without much in the way of traditional structuring. So Im scared I may sound like I'm talking out my arse ;D
But I know what I like and won't say I like something for the sake of it. So apologies if my reviews aren't very helpfull. I will get better at it  :-\

Hi Andy,
you're in good company then cos we all talk out of our arses really & those who think they don't take life too seriously!!!! Just say what you think & feel, anything else is worthless, there is NO right way to review a song, only you can express how you feel so stop feeling awkward a.s.a.p & go for it!!!! :) :) :) :)

Here here.. I say the ame thing to everyone who feels like that Andy, that it doesn't matter at all
whether you think that your review is good or bad. No need for everyone to be all technical. Some of the best reviews
are the one's where someone says what they think about it. How it makes them feel or whether it made you want to move
or whether you just enjoyed it.
That's much better than nothing mate :)

And DB!!! Is that a forum first??? First to hit 1000? I think there should be some kind of honour :)
And your idea of a kind of "Do they know it's Christmas" song with loads of people joining in is ace!
If that gets going i'd certainly participate however you would want me to :)

so far Schavuitje has volunteered to sing a track for my dreamchoir of forumites... :'( thank you Schavuitje, you and i will make a great choir....i appreciate it, oude zeeschuimer

my mixes must be really extremely bad...and now i also see Tone reduced my status from World Domination to Busker again....aahhhhhhhh
and nobody wants to nominate bad eurovision songs, while there are plenty out there :'(
Cyber live can be hard, perhaps i should  try to get a real life :-[

Don't worry Schav, it's not personal. Everyone's been re-classified as busker as I very nearly lost this forum over the weekend after it was hacked :(

I am lost... what is this about a forum choir? An internet song project is it? How do you intend to go about layering the parts? I may be interested :)
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Dutchbeat on April 07, 2012, 03:10:47 PM
Hi James, you are in...i need your input and vocal!

and Schavuitje: yes, you made it accross the 1000 posts mark, but still a busker, life can be so cruel (or Tone is cruel)

i will explain how i will work on this with all these tracks later, but please know beforehand i have no real technical (or musical  :P) knowledge on how to do this (but i think that is clear when listening to my earlier mixes and songs), but it is just something i like doing, mixing with an overdose of vocal tracks, and man, am i going to get an overdosis, yeah (http://www.pic4ever.com/images/banana_smiley_50.gif) Thanks forumites!

but i intend to work the same way i do on my songs with Mrs DB (and some other singers)...mainly because i dont know any other approach..... :P...more specific details will follow soon, when i figured it out myself  ::)

no seriously, trust me, i think i know what i am going to be doing...i think..(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/wcsmiley.gif)well, anyway, thanks for volunteering, James

and Flossie and Tinam, thanks for making this forum so much more alive, i mean with these new smileys!(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/1-20070210065344.gif)

Hi songwriters,

:P...how to bring this...(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/mpr.gif)well, you know my songwriting is not as fast as many others over here, and i have to start concentrating on my lyricist and instrumentalist collaboration with Sellon....

but i want to do this project so much, so please, please (http://www.pic4ever.com/images/148fs542321.gif)

...here it is, would all of you absolutely splendid songwriters that were prepared to give this a go...perhaps, please..
(as a reminder ...that would be: Schavuitje, Mr Chainsaw, Kafla, Flossie, Mihkay, Mrs. DB, Tinam, E-street, Domj, Tone & Nooms (and also hoping for corsair, james, songsmith, Cheff Dan and all collaborators to this beautiful forum)
...on this project i have been working on last days and posted in the reviews section
you knowhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNi_yYtvqk0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNi_yYtvqk0), and deliver one track, one idea, anything, only keep the timing, but just add something??? whatever comes to mind in mp3 or wav format? images or film clips are also welcomeplease, please, please(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/154fs232528.gif), they will be aincorporated in "the video"

i will send the lyrics, if some people would say they are willing to go for it, and you can also send pictures or film clips, please do, solos whatever (i reckon it is  Dminor but chords can be send upon request  ::)), and i would mix and chop that that up to a songwriterforum songy like thing, with my complete lack of technical knowledge, and i will pump up the beat in the final mix a lot!!! (http://www.pic4ever.com/images/banana_smiley_50.gif)
i can assure you, that if i do something with your part, voice or images, that you dont like, it will be erased , directly upon request

hope some of you are prepared to join this bad plan, just to make Dutchbeat happy  :'(

please, please [img]http://www.pic4ever.com/images/154fs232528.gif[/img

are you serious dutchbeat this is going to ruin a great track! i thought you wanted a choir for a project not a huge out of control jam ???
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Dutchbeat on May 02, 2012, 09:03:22 PM
Boydie yes, please
thanks
and yes, a total out of control jam would be splendid, Tinam

i hope people are prepared to give a go at some singing along or adding other things
and these things then will be combined, and we can see for choirs, combinations etc.
the crazier the better

but seriously every track will be handled with discreteness  :P so only the final product will be with everything and every one in there, no other mixes..and anyone who wants his contribution out of that mix, it will be done immediately

does that sound like a real well thought plan, or not  :P i think it does  ;D
oh well, please join, ok?

I'm hearing a bass-line.  ??? ;)

Working on it.  :o
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Dutchbeat on May 03, 2012, 06:56:15 AM
Yes, a bassline would be nice!

I just realised, well at night i realised, that the song is a bit off tune (so not on 440 hrz for the middle a). For singing that will not be a problem, but for guitar and other instruments it will...

so i will put a version here soon (tommorow night at last) together with the lyrics, that is on tune

sorry about that, and i can't do it now because of work  >:(
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Boydie on May 03, 2012, 08:20:28 AM
Hey DB

Please also post up the chords and the exact tempo in BPM

Regarding the guitar I thought it would work best if I gave you a few "samples" (e.g. a few bars of different ideas) that you can throw into the mix wherever you see fit

Do you want "dry" recordings that you would add the effects, amp sims etc. or do you want them already processed (or both)?

If there is anything specific you want from the guitar part just let me know as I am happy with any style/genre

Should be a good bit of fun having loads of people working on th sane track - nice idea!

Hi Tinam, Nooms, Boydie and Mihkay

I will prepare a post with lyrics, chords, BPM, and a link to the music in the right tune, and i hope you can give it a go (Tinam when you dress up like a smurf, make a picture please, and i will put it in the video somewhere)
and Mihkay (bass? perhaps also a vocal track?), Boydie (guitar bits, as far as i am concerned you can put the effects on it just the way you want), and Nooms (vocal track) any input is appreciated, just let it flow....and i hope it is ok that i mess around and combine, chop up etc. with the tracks, let's just try some things

thanks, hope to be back with the material in hour or two

Hi Boydie, Nooms and Mihkay (and Tinam)

and everybody who is willing to donate a track or an image or film clip to this project, anything will do (singing, spoken words, a sample, harmonica, tamborine, whatever!!!)

WE CAN MAKE A LOT OF NOISE together!!!  :o

i will e-mail the -on tune- tune, 101 BPM track, via PM e-mail to you guys first in a minute, others who are prepared to give it a go please let me know, and i will PM the track, the more the better, will give me more to work and play with, and to sort out  :D

in case you might be interested to give it a try, just to make DB happy  ;D, let me know

here are the lyrics and the chords (i hope i got the chord names right, and i hope chord names are the same in English, please be gentle , it has been almost 25 years since my last piano lesson). If you want the music track, let me know. here are the lyrics and chords:

Life goes by  (BPM 101)

Wait up, why are you going so fast
Dm        Gmin   Cmaj
Take it all in make every moment last
Dmin         Gmin      Cmaj
Slow down, …take a look around
Dmin        Gmin      Cmaj
Take a little pleasure, in everything you do
Dmin                        Fmaj             Cmaj

Cause life goes by, in the blink of an eye
Gmin           Cmin         E bes maj
Don’t be afraid to laugh, don’t be afraid to cry
Gmin        Cmin          E bes maj
…………………..hold on! To all your hopes and dreams
Gmin                       Cmin        E bes maj
And keep believing, things are not what they seem
Gmin           Cmin             E bes maj

no singing:
B bes maj              Dmin   Amin       Cmaj
Dont regret the things you do, regret the things you don’t
B bes maj                       Dmin         Cmaj      Cmaj

(no new chords follow from here, back to verse chords…starting with Dmin)

Hold on, to all your hopes and dreams
Dm      Gmin      Cmaj
Keep believing, things are seldom what they seem
Dm         Gmin       Cmaj
Slow down…… take a look around
Dm      Gmin   Cmaj
Take a little pleasure, in everything you do
Dmin                         Fmaj   Cmaj

- Instrumental break - (ending with: “…in everything you do”)

Cause life goes by, in the blink of an eye
Don’t be afraid to live, don’t be afraid to die
Hold on, to all your hopes and dreams
Keep believing
Things are not what they seem

…don’t give up…

Don’t regret the things you do, regret the things you don’t

Cause live goes by, in the blink of an eye
Don’t be afraid to live, don’t be afraid to die
Hold on, to all your hopes and dreams
Keep believing

Title: Re: the pace of this forum!
Post by: Dutchbeat on May 07, 2012, 02:32:42 PM
Hi RS,

it may be i have to make some decisions on what to use where and how, but i was planning on having every contribution in it in one way or the other.

I like my songs to go overboard in what is happening, and i also can make space by deleting things from myself or adding extra measures for solo space...

i think that will be a good solution, if it would get too crowded, space will be made available

but, i don't have that problem yet, because Boydies input is the first to materialise, but that already makes the whole campaign worthwhile, because it is simpy stunning what he did !!!

i think it really fits very nicely, lifting the song up

the discussion about the forum and people (considering to) leave of course will have an influence on this, not only for the motivation to participate, but also as it concerns forum members who were ready to give this a go...i hope it will turn around (not for this project but for the forum), come on songwriters!

Overboard is always fun :)
I hope members leaving doesn't adversely affect this, because stuff like this is precisely what is great about the forum :)...it's at odds to then back out of it.

Keep us updated so we know how it progresses!!  ;)

Heads up - more incoming!!!

I have separated the individual tracks and they are winging their way to you through cyberspace

I have lined all the starts up with your original MP3 so it should be easy to line them up in your DAW

Have fun and please keep us posted of the development

@RAMS - You are 100% right - it was a LOT of fun noodling away last night and I urge others to focus their energy in equally creative and collaborative ways  ;)

hope others will join this project...to make this into a collaborative songwriterforum project.

I take offense to that! I've been making out with metal, flirting with prog and punching with punk from day 1 here! Granted that doesn't exactly shine through in lyrics...
You're lucky I could hear you over my breakdown... :P

Cheers Tina

I don't usually get the chance to properly "wig out" very often so when DB kept insisting he wanted "over the top" stuff I couldn't refuse and really enjoyed doing it

As for the sound you may want to sit down for this bit (and please don't hate me for doing this - I feel dirty enough already!!!!)

All the sounds were "soft" - just me in my living room with headphones, guitar (Fender strat plus with gold lace sensor pups) plugged straight into my laptop running Sonar 8.5

All guitar sounds were Guitar Rig 3 - not an amp or Marshall stack in sight ( ooh the shame :-\ )

I just loaded DB's track and played a selection of styles for him to chop up and reuse

If I get a chance tonight I will upload what I sent to DB so you can see how the collaboration worked

It was soooooooo much fun and I urge others to get involved - we are alresdy talking about another collaboration project...

well it sounds very good & had me fooled i was sure someone like you would insist on using an amp & mic
i sold my main amp when i started playing again &  using the computer to record becos i had to do it at night & sleeping children were a godsend!(http://www.pic4ever.com/images/pillowfight.gif)
i have a digitech amp sim modeler thingy which has so many amps on it ive never tried half of them
i still keep a broken amp becos i just like to look at it & it makes feel like a proper guitarist becos the amp modeler altho it makes the sounds just doesnt look like right if you know what i mean :)
Title: Re: the pace of this forum!

I completely understand

My gigging rig is a Fender valve combo with a Digitech GSP1101 multi fx unit - it is an awesome unit and compliments the fender clean sound perfectly (I posted a you tube clip in my introduction which shows the sounds "live")

I really rate the Digitech stuff and I am surprised it is not more widely accepted - although I think this is more down to Digitech as a company, who can be a bit strange at times

I have had a Digitech RP1, GNX2 and now the GSP1101

Like you ALL of my recording is done using software for amps, cabs etc. and now I have got used to Guitar Rig 3 I have to admit it is an awesome plug in and the convenience for late night recording with kids (and wife) in bed far outweigh any slight loss in "tone", as long as I catch the character of the song I am happy
