Don't know if you know the video. I just stumbled to it today.
Have a watch. It only is 2 minutes long.
So much truth in it. Very inspirational!!

Love his work. Porcupine Tree's 'In Absentia' is one of my favourite albums.
He's dead right too. Music is a diversion,a bit of fluff, just do it for yourself and be glad you can.

Yes, there are too many songs in the world. Occasionally something new and wonderful comes around. You'll write if you have to. Even if no one ever listens to your work. Music soothes the soul. I for one am thankful for this gift.
Great find @Philipp (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22807)!

Intersting. I find I tend towards the more unusual, less commercial music anyway and it shows in my own songwriting.

Truly inspirational and for me, uplifting. Steven sums up exactly why I do what I do. Thanks so much for sharing.

Music is an ephemeral thing (cept for Beethoven/Mozart etc..) and peeps always want a new song from a favourite artist, Adel /Sheeran/Bieber etc are making millions selling new songs so not sure I can agree with his sentiments..
