Am I right in thinking that the theme is "22"? Off to work in a minute but have developed a lovely, quirky concept and the first two veres are now complete. :)

Once again, I've continued to write around this theme before going to work and am now two thirds finished. I've cooked something up that I'm incredibly fond of. The working title is "Robot 22". There are artists, lovers, pacifists and surfer dude's in there for good measure, including the very human tradition of laying flowers upon graves. The theme seems to have really stirred my thought processes. If we don't go with this title then I am grateful for the creativity that has sprung from this idea.

Cool, I'm done! at least with the writing task that is! This one might even tempt me to come out of retirement to fully embellish my guitar and vocal into a full musical production!

I've definitely finished this task as well as the production. It was fun but also hard work. It'sdefinitely a mood song and is now up on my soundcloud page under the tile of "Robot 22." It might need a few days to rest and perhaps I'll add one or two extras but maybe not.

So we can get some more occasional songwriters involved, how about we make the deadline on this the middle of Feb? So that’s maybe one more week for folk to sign up, then a four weeks creation window.
Maybe people can start posting songs in Songs For Review from First week of Feb, so they get a proper listen. Sometimes we’ve put the songs all in one thread but they hardly get a notice. So let’s show ‘em off properly 😀

22/2/22 sounds like a great deadline.
Hopefully some of the members out of practice - such as me! - will have plenty of time to get something together in that timescale.
So if you’ve not been around here for a while, why not make this a way of getting back into the swing of things! 👍

Persuading more than a handful of songwriters to get involved in a very friendly, low-key, zero-pressure songwriting challenge is proving quite a challenge in itself 😀
I’d love to see a few more folks give it a go…

Well, we've got 8 people who have expressed an interest in the challenge - It's simple really, compose a song around the theme "22" You can interpret this as you want. With regard to the closing date, I know that some folks would like more time, so maybe we declare the challenge open now and when you have completed your song, post in the finished songs section. This is NOT a competition, it's an exercise to see how many different wonderful creations can be sculptured around a very lose theme.
Please feel free to participate. I must say that it seems like pretty hard work to drum up enthusiasm for any kind of challenge. We've had all sorts of challenges in the past and also a song of the month feature which have all seemed to die a death,
Give it a go !!!

If more want to join then great, but anyway 8 variations on the theme will be really interesting to hear... and Wicked Deeds has already set the bar high! Just started construction on mine... it's gonna be called "Twenty To" not "22" I think, hope that still counts!

Hey guys,count me in as a maybe!
I'm as rusty as an old nail,but if I don't start doing something soon,I'll forget what all the buttons are for.
Due to an OS update I lost all my mastering plugins and I'm really struggling to get what I want to hear with new stuff. I hate having to work with new tools,when the old ones were just fine.
So,time and life permitting I'll try to lash up some old bollox to make you all look good.

Great to see a pretty enthusiastic response to this challenge and even better to see some old faces back on the forum.
Paul's Robot 22 has set the bar pretty high so really looking forward to hearing all of you interpretations. Haven't started mine yet although have got some rough ideas.
Just a reminder that when you have finished your song, post it under the finished songs section for review.

I'm still working on mine. Practicing production. And finding it really difficult to get things to mesh. I'm now resorting to notating out the melody and think I will do so with the bass line as well.

Brilliant entries so far…I was wondering if we can tempt anyone else to drag themselves over the finish line on this one? 😀
I spent an lovely hour or so yesterday working with Vicki on her entry for the “22” challenge and it made me determined to get my idea together…so I’ve been doodling about with it this morning a bit and hope to be able to record it tonight and maybe get it posted then too, with a bit of luck.

My plan hit the buffers as I’ve lost my voice again…I’ve recorded the music though, and finalised the lyrics…and should be ok to get it done at the weekend. The FAWM thing has taken a hit too…aarrgghh 😀
