Title: Back Room Revolution
Post by: pompeyjazz on February 24, 2021, 07:58:58 PM
Hi All, I was looking back over the last year and discovered that I had enough songs to release a solo album, so I've just managed to get it released on Bandcamp. This song is the title track to the album. It's a straight up, no holds barred rocker.

Hope you enjoy the listen  :)

@pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269),

 Is that @PaulAds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20253) playing bass?  Great guitars throughout a lovely crisp production.  This one has so much attitude and your vocals are right on form, embracing an immediately catchy melody.  What more can I say other than this is a rocking number that grabs our attention from the start and doesn't let go!

Angry young man song.
Paul Weller would have crinkled a new suit to have written this!
I love the breakdown
it sounds live!!

That’s one snarly riff John, in yer face or what  :D Full of energy and bile, I used to be able to throw this much passion into a song once, but no more, ha ha, so good on ya.

Plus you used all known rhymes to ‘revolution’ too.  :)

Yeah that bass is very meaty. One nil to the punk poet of Portsmouth.  ;)

Good luck with the album too. What with The Auditors, that’s two albums in a week! Prolific or what, wow!

Straight up rocker alright! Fab vocal delivery- energy, attitude in abundance...

Love those rhymes-  nicely done, sir!

All in all designed to hit repeat. Great work! Again!

@pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269) Great energy and attitude and what a vocal! Just a few too many "tion" rhymes for me but that's nit picking. Great musicianship and production - it storms out of the speakers and doesn't let up. Good luck with the album BTW.

@pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269)  fuuuull throttle!!! Really like the way you pushed your vocal in this👍 And you deliver some clever lyrics with a bit of bite! It’s all good but There’s one little bit that’s particularly well done - the overlap of the vocal from ‘ back room revolution’ to ‘World Wide Web’ and the way you pan the vocal from the right into centre during that overlap is a really neat and well executed trick!👌

Fucking great!

When it was over, I felt like Alan Minter after Marvin Hagler had finished with him.

I wish I could have been able to take even 0.02 % of the credit for this...but of course I can’t 😀 it’s a 100% straight up, no nonsense, low calorie, high fibre @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269) winner all the way!

Some people are on the pitch...they think it’s all over...BANG...it is now!

Brilliant John, I don’t know how you manage to cover so many genres in your work but you’ve definitely nailed the Rock one.

Absolutely loved it!

Awesome rocker John, dripping with hyper energy and attitude. Great vocal delivery and the production is top class, as always 8) Fab bass playing.
Not sure if I'm totally getting the message here, but enough that it captivated me :o Good luck with the new album  :-*

@pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269)

Really good rocking tune, some great energy in the backing track and an "in your face" vocal. I would agree with montydog that it could do with slightly fewer  "tion" rhymes, but that's not a big issue.

(Also, this played INCREDIBLY loud, so much I had to turn it down: not sure that is an issue, but did you record it particularly loud or was it just me?)

Best of luck with the album,

Kevin

Wow Thumpin stuff @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269). I dare not criticise this or you'll have me for dinner.
Seriously though, great rockin' material with attitude. The first thing I noticed was your fantastic voice. It really demands your attention. Loved it.

Hits us straight out of the gate and doesn't let up. Strong vocals as ever! Maybe some cymbals a tad too crashy? Never mind, super fun and infectious. Nice one.
