Just wondering what metering plugins do you use? Why do you like them? Do you use something that isn't really metering plugin as such as Fabfilter pro Q3, but has a great meter in it.
Stock DAW meters, Span, Insight2, IK's Meters, bx_Meter, Durroughs, Klanghelm vu etc....so many...
or maybe you don't use one at all?
I would love to know

I really like Span for quick reviewing and referencing. I just got Bertom EQ Curve Analyser which shows what particular effects are doing (you put one instance before and after) which looks like a useful one too.

I use the stock Level Metering plugin within Presonus Studio One 5 Pro (silly name IMHO)
The particular features I like are the simple and clear UI and the range of different metering scales, including LUFS
As it is a native plugin it will happily sit on the master bus and give a small graphical representation of what is going on and then “pop out” when needed to fill a predetermined section of the screen, which can be pinned during the mastering process - so I have the metering spread across the whole bottom of the screen and can still access the mastering plugins in a separate window in a different area of the screen

@Boydie (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18510) @adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) - Thanks for your replies, I've heard that stock metering is usually pretty good, never heard of Bertom, I'll check it out

I use what is available in Cubase Pro but I did get the Dynameter (https://www.meterplugs.com/dynameter) on the Black Friday sale but have not had much time to use it yet, interesting concept and looks promising.

@Jambrains (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19875) - Hi Johann, yeah I heard about that one, Ian Shpherd's very own...I would be very interested to know how you get on with it.

I use the Youlean Loudness Meter Pro version. I love the ability to drag and drop a file onto it to get the stats of a file offline to your DAW.
That was one of the reasons I upgraded to the Pro version.

The other one I've used for years is the free K-Meter by Martin Zuther produced according to Bob Katz’ specifications.

Thanks for the responses, they were interesting.
There's a really useful too for Windows pcs called Plugin doctor, it tells you in a graphical representation what your plugin does to your sound, even with the knobs set to flat, you'd be amazed, I cant remember if it's free or not, but it's quite revealing, and can scare the living daylight out of you, or give you a lovely feeling of warmth and Yeah I'm right about that....
Here's what it does. But let your ears be the final arbiter of what sounds right, just because it mangels the curve, doesn't mean it's wrong.
My current favourites are the stock Samplitude meters, SPL Hawkeye and Metric Adaptr AB, I have these 3 open and between them they tell me what I want to know, but these only tell me what my ears cannot.
Other notable mentions
YouLean pro is also excellent, I wish all metering plugs were available as stand alone with drag and drop.
Mastering the Mix - Expose is also useful
