Title: Zoom Live demo about the basics of mixing & production
Post by: cowparsleyman on July 29, 2020, 04:17:02 PM: I've noticed from posts that there are some forum members that don't know much about mixing and production in DAW's...

I would be very happy to explain, in simple terms, a few generic concepts in a Zoom Call using my DAW, (it wouldn't matter that I'm using a different DAW to you) would this be of any interest to anyone?

I thought the first thing would be to explain the signal flow through a mixer channel, what an aux buss is, and when to use them, and the role of a master buss.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Im planning the live demo, it’ll be the week after next probably...looking forward to doing it.

I have planned and prepped this so I'm ready to deliver it, but my music laptop isn't.

I found out that Zoom cannot stream audio from my DAW, (does not support ASIO) so I have to use OBS to stream using a virtual desktop camera, which can (probably) send to Zoom using a reaper plug called reastream, if it doesn't block it, NDI should work...but my Dell laptop does not stream the video from my Desktop i..e my DAW, (OBS knows this and has a fix, which involves resetting my 3D graphics options in my NVIDIA chip) - that doesn't work either so I'm knackered.

I've spent the last 3 days watching a plethora of youtube vids that convince me that the industry needs a standard, probably NDI..

So sorry to all those that wanted this, but until this works I can't do it.

Anyway I'm going to test a few things and ensure all is in order for the Demo so at the moment it looks promising.

I'll be in touch, once the tests have been done.

I struggle schedule-wise with Friday nights too usually (that's why I'm hardly ever in John's bar...:-( ) so when it is rescheduled if it could be on another weekday night that'd be ace.
