Title: Festive 2019 Send-off Contest! Results!

After hearing that hundreds of forum members are interested in entering  (well, actually only a few have expressed that  :D) I have the huge honour of announcing this new holiday song contest. My co-host @adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) and I will be herding the proverbial cats according to the following rules:

"The Rules"

Submissions:
The theme is "Songs for Christmas, New Year's Eve, or both".
Open to all current forum members no matter how many posts etc.
A new song please.
Entries to be submitted by end of the day 1st 22nd December 2019.
You can have one solo entry and one colab. Or two colabs instead.
Please add your name to this thread if you're in.
Please put Lyrics, WIP and Finished Songs into the relevant thread on the forum, as usual, not here! For voting we'll gather them all together here.
Mark entries with #festivecomp for easy searching.
Your competition song won't count towards the one-song-per-two-weeks rule, but also won't be eligible for song of the month.

Voting:
Anyone can vote.
All entrants must vote, but not for themselves or a song they collaborated on.
Vote for your top 3 in order of preference, by PM to both the co-hosts.
3pts for 1st, 2pts for 2nd, 1pt for 3rd. As you can't vote for a song you colaborated on, colabs get an extra 2 points headstart (4 for 3 or more person colabs). Minus 10pts for sleighbells (just kidding).
Voting closes end of day 5th January 2020.

Any questions or problems are to be reported to Adam  ::). If you have any compliments or praise about how the contest is being run, you can report that to me  :D

I have words, melody, and chord progression. Haven't figured out what I'll do about recording it yet. I'm trying to learn how to play bass, so maybe I'll make a bass line myself. It's short and doesn't need (or at least it doesn't have) a middle 8. Got a few things to work out yet, anyway. But, if nothing else, I can make it a simple 1+1.

I have just set out on a collab with @adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) for this competition and that will keep me busy enough. But I will send you the said  lyrics by PM and see if you like them. Then the musical treatment would be entirely down to you. I always like your theatrical, retro style, so I would be thrilled if you could do something with those lyrics that would be inevitably so different to what I would do.  ;)

(Not just from Cork, New York, Dundalk, Gortahork and Glenamaddy).

I’d love to take this opportunity to report on the hive of festive activity that is this competition!

Only, it all seems a bit quiet...

Hopefully you are all tactically saving your entries until the last posible moment on the basis that the last listens get the most votes.

I know it’s early, but as Simon Cowell says, releases after 1st of December won’t make the Christmas No. 1!

Forgot about this... with not being around much lately...

I was playing around with one of those daft Christmas dance video creator things yesterday...which gave me an idea...I've been scribbling lyrics this morning...so - fingers crossed - I might be able to join in the party.

For the music. it was a case of "find something vaguely Christmas-sy and whack some sleigh bells on it" so I've got that done.

For some reason, I thought the closing date would have been nearer Christmas... Doh!

Anybody else still working on it?

I'd dearly like to give this a go and will do my best to take part. I have so many work commitments and other deadlines to meet in December (not including the hectic schedule of Christmas) that I may not be able to take part. Hopefully, I can get a little help from the Christmas elves!

I've spent today travelling.   I'm unable to write even lyrics without an instrument. It's been a precious wasted day.

I've really enjoyed the entries submitted so far!

TWEAKING? I wish I was just TWEAKING!  ;D  I haven't had much time to work on it and I'm not sure what I've done is even worth posting.
I always seem to get to that point, where I start second guessing myself and thinking that the whole song really sucks, and I shouldn't bother posting it  ::) But I probably will :)

Last day with the Christmas tree up in our house, and finally had chance to have a last listen to these entertaining entries. Just off to vote now, great competition that inspired some top work. Valentines has got to be next!  ;D

Well done as well  to @Paulski (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19241) and @adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) for putting in their time to run this. But I have to say I am somewhat disappointed with Adam, my co-writer. He was in charge of counting the votes and still allowed us to come second. Missed opportunity there lad!  ;)
