Title: The Beast in Me - AtticVibes
Post by: Cawproductions on March 01, 2019, 09:08:06 PM
Hi all.

Classic American 50 style rock n roll track. Inspired by a quote from a classic film, It follows the classic 12 bar structure from that era.

Myself and @Mikey (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20986) had a absolute blast doing this track, hope you guys enjoy and it gets your foot tapping.

So get your hand on the volume knob and wind it all the way to the top and then force it some more.

Enjoy

Lyrics are as follows:

Verse 1

I watch you walk across the bar
Your shirt and jeans so tight
I want to get you into my car
And drive you into the night
Those legs, those hips
Those eyes, those lips
I'm likin' what I see
It aint tactics honey
Its just the beast in me

Verse 2

The music pounding in my ears
I sit and watch you dance
Gotta grab your attention
Gotta grab my only chance
Those legs, those hips
Those eyes, those lips
I'm likin' what I see
It aint tactics honey
Its just the beast in me

Verse 3

We're driving 'cross the desert Baby
The wind is blowing through your hair
Your arm across the back of my shoulder
And a crate of bud to share
Those legs, those hips
Those eyes, those lips
I'm likin' what I see
It aint tactics honey
Its just the beast in me

It's a rip roller of a beast guys. Lovely dirty sound and I like that Joanna plonking around in the background. I like it the way that you have gone for it with the vocals as well. Cool stuff guys

Great vocal grabbed my attention from the off. Drums are very well done too. Cool sounding piano chimes in too. Very nice. Sounded more modern and perhaps Oasis-ish than 50's to me...but I enjoyed this more than I enjoy anything by Oasis.

You're building a really excellent collection of tracks...and your standards never drop.

Well done, fellas!

 Yeah, like this....of course ;D ;D
BUT ;D ;D .  To my ears (ear...still deaf ;D), this is crying out for some dirty slide guitar....
I know it's a taste thing, but to me, it just tastes like Texas and Billy Gibbons ;D ;D

 Loved it.....and all your stuff ;D ;D

Sounds like a great pub-rock live song best served loud and with mucho beer.

Lyrics remind me of something maybe ZZ Top might have done. You can tell you must have enjoyed doing it, its energy is infectious. Really smart, raw arrangement and a great wall of rock sound.

The only thing missing maybe was the BIG FINISH, might have been fun as a song like this deserves to sign off with a flourish.

But still, really raucous enjoyable stuff... although not that helpful to nursing my hangover from last night right at the moment!

I have an amp that turns up to 11, so that´s lucky. As a song, it´s pure rock n´roll so can´t really comment in depth, but it sounds great.

Great drive to this. I love that vocal - particularly love what you’re doing with those long notes ‘tight’, ‘night’ Etc.

Very polished. Fab piano and guitar work..

Great, pro-band track!

Well, because I'm so fussy about such things, I would sing "I want to get you into my car" instead of "I want to getchoo into my car", but that's the only nit I can find. Just my style. Lovely.

Sound like you guys had a lot of fun doing this.
Very professional sounding roch n' roll. I wish I had even half of your technical skills.
Rock on!

Hi,

"It ain't tactics honey
Its just the beast in me"

That's a line of dialogue by Elvis Presley in the movie King Creole and I think I'm probably the only person on the forum who knows that :-)

Great slice of rolling rock n' roll which is at once familiar but also new. I like the way it's self parody but still effective as a great piece of songwriting. A great listen.

Hi all.

I didn't comment on this as Mikey was in there doing the business.

But many thanks for everyone comments.
I think someone mentioned a Big finish - Yeah, defo should have had a shouty ending, next time.
Slide Guitars if only either of us could do this, have get Mikey trained up.

Thanks again for all the comments and listens.

Yo you two.

A fine rock and roller, rigt here. It brings the old formula to life nicely. Those lyrics will have the PC brigade on your case, for sure! Love the piano!

I agree with the binster, some lazy, dirty slide would fit the bill nicely.

A fine listen.  8)

@Skub (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20061)

Thanks Davy

I agree about the slide guitar, it would sound great, but I've not played much slide and dont think I would do the track justice, maybe I ought to do some practice for next time.

Cheers, Mikey

Nice greasy old skool rocker chaps.  Kudos.  Normally I start to nod off as soon as I hear a 12-bar-blues pattern but there were enough flourishes here to keep me riveted.  Definitely a bar-room foot-tapper, very well sung and played.

"The Teddy Bear in Me" just wouldn't have had the same ring to it :)

What's not to like?
Rock and Roll - top track - everything fits nicely.
Like the guitars and vox esp.
Kinda thought it could be sung in a higher register - but I guess Elvis sung lots in that range  ;D

Nice work

Hi Guys

@PaulyX (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21034) thanks mate, we added extra grease for that authentic sound.

@PaulAds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20253) you are right, teddy bear isn't as rock 'n' roll, great video though

@Paulski (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19241), thanks for the listen, Andy tried singing it higher but his tight pants were in the wash

Thanks for all the great comments, Mikey
