Title: New Song from lyric board "The Likes of Us"

Be forewarned --  turn your speakers down a little.  For some reason, this is real loud on the reverbnation site.

Hard luck follows faith and trust.  --  Heritage and history – trampled into dust.

Pre - Chorus: 
Dispossessed by the cannon and the gun,
Cause there’s not room for everyone.

Chorus: 
Swindled and dis-inherited  –  Displaced and kicked aside. 
A bitter past repeats itself  –  in all the same damned lies. 

Out there in the darkest night, is there no light for the likes of us? 
Always how it seems to go  --    No one bothers.  No one cares to know.

Very interesting. For a moment I thought this was a famous score song for a movie.

I like it. Very idiosyncratic. Painful but relieving at the same time. Music very interesting

"Interesting" is a good word.  So is "idiosyncratic." 
I wrote the music first. . . a variation on a standard 12 bar blues chord sequence, then found it so unusual that I looked for a lyric to bring it back toward something more generic. 

I'm still too close to the writing to objectively "hear" how it has turned out.  Your input gives me some really good perspective as to how it sounds.
