Title: Looking to collaborate?
Post by: exfairy on December 13, 2018, 08:29:17 PM
Hi! It's been a long while since I've been on here - basically I fell into a creative rut and uni got rl busy.

Anyway. I'm back and I want to start writing again but also networking and all that jazz. Curious if anyone wants to collaborate on anything?

I'm a female singer (soprano), guitar, ukes (all 4), piano, and mandolin. Looking to try get better at producing as well.

:)

@exfairy (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20815) I would be very interested in a Collab - I need to get writing again after a few months solid of doing production and mastering work

If you are up for co-writing and singing a commercial pop song (i.e. Something you would hear in today's top 40) I would very much be up for this - and can give you some production tips along the way

If you are interested send me a PM on the forum

I wasn't around when you were here (unless you're here under a new name).  What  are your strengths, and what would be interesting and helpful to you?

Apologies for the delay in responses - I've just had a manic deadline week! Back on track now though :)

Of course! PM me and I'll see what I can do! :)

Agh I wasn't brilliantly active when I was on last time so we might've just missed each other XD
I'm interested in composing and playing - honestly I'm trying to find "my sound" right now so really just trying to get experience in all areas! I can do the instruments mentioned in OP and I like to think I'm quite good at arranging? Idk, I'm honestly up for anything rn :)

If you're "up for anything" musically, here are some suggestions.

1.  I have several songs I don't do anything with because they require a female voice.  One of them is arranged well (i.e. by someone else), but others are badly in need of help and/or a better direction by someone who is good at arrangements.  If you're interested in singing, or collaborating on some of those, let me know. I'm not reluctant about sharing credit or ownership.

2.  I have several songs I paid someone to write and perform music for.  I'm very happy with what he did, but I didn't know enough at the time to demand music without his vocals on it.  You live and you learn.  So, what that means is I have a bunch of (what I consider high quality) songs, that I can't really use unless someone else can interpret and set uncompromised music to.  Not looking for help here that would lead to ownership because I share ownership and don't wish to lose controlling ownership.  Credit, and unlimited "right to use/perform/record/etc" those songs is what I have to offer with them.

3.  I have numerous songs with arrangements that need a talented arranger's touch to go from being sub-par to competent.  Others need to be taken from "pretty bad" to competent by a talented arranger.  Huge variety of styles and content in this category.  If I know what you want your "voice" as a writer to be, I probably have some things that would fit that "voice."

4.  I have other songs that just need the musical arrangement I came up with to be abandoned and to start over - either from the bare lyric, or from the lyric and vocal treatment.  Again, I'm never shy about sharing credit or ownership except in cases where it would lead to losing control of a song.

5.  Regarding "control of a song".  In the (extremely unlikely) event that a song could be sold, it's important that someone (one of the collaborators) has the authority to sell the song without restrictions.  Someone has to have the authority to "say yes" to a sale without permission, and thus, someone has to have clear ownership of 51% of said song.

If any of this is interesting to you, let me know.
