Well, those of you who "know" me may have noticed I've been more absent than not for the past year plus. I've written earlier indicating serial health issues--with my daughter, my mother, and my father--were the culprit. But not any more!
For the past, ummm, I forget how long now, my preoccupation has been with getting an album prepared for launch. I've been part of two albums before, but this one is my debut as a solo act, and I'm pretty excited about it. It's more work than I remember, and I'm really not done with everything yet, but it's close. I'm releasing it both digitally and on CD. Release date is November 23, but anyone can go hear the whole thing on a playlist at SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/caliamoko/sets/album-better-late-than-never), right now.
This forum has been a big inspiration to me; I would not have gotten this far if I wasn't part of the forum. The wonderful production on the songs is possible ONLY because I met the people who did it right here. Thank you, @Boydie (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18510) and @PaulAds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20253) . You make me sound so good! All the feedback I got when I posted songs was also extremely helpful and very much appreciated.
Now I need to finish fitting the artwork to the templates for the CDs, which is turning out to be the hardest part, I think.

Brilliant Vicki. You are an inspiration :)

Fabulous accomplishment! Your voice is beautiful, and occasionally reminds me of Karen Carpenter. The mix of different genres and emotions, from light and happy, to serious and dark, to romantic, kept it interesting and well rounded. The end of the second song (I think?) made me smile. The flute is beautiful in Forever Together and My Last Song. Thoughtful, well written lyrics. Really enjoyed the whole thing.

Whato Vicki, works both ways, you have been an inspiration to me, getting through all that, and yet getting an album done, I wish you the very best with it.

Thanks @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269) , @redrhodie (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21171) , @cowparsleyman (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21308) !
It is quite a rush! I've never done one alone before. Not that something like this is ever actually done alone. I had so much help; it was wonderful.
I have an album launch party scheduled for December 2. Wish you could all come! And I'm selling the album, taking pre-orders for a discount through Friday (discount code BLTN2018, in case anyone is interested) at https://vmgoble.bandcamp.com. So far most sales (like all 5 of them! ;)) are digital, but I hear a few people plan to buy physical CDs. The CDs have been made and are in the mail on their way to me at this moment. I should have them Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.
This album would NEVER have happened if I hadn't found this forum and gotten active here. So I owe a really big thanks to everyone who makes this forum so successful!

Congratulations @CaliaMoko (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19928) ! That’s such an achievement!! Good luck with the launch - so exciting!!

Hi Vicky - today's the day, right?
Well done indeed for having the drive to make it happen!

@montydog (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18653) : Yes, I know what you mean. I see no sign of this album (at the current rate of sales) paying for itself anytime soon, and yet I am planning the next two! I'm pretty sure I can get a grant to cover the cost of one, so I'll start on that one after I apply for and receive the grant. If I get it. If not, I'll figure something out.
@MonnoDB (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19820) : Thank you! I am pretty excited! I'm practicing what I preach. If you have a dream, just get busy and carry it out. :D
@adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) : Yes, today is the day. The people who ordered digital copies should have gotten emails by now, telling them how to download their purchases. The pre-ordered CDs are packaged and ready to go to the post office. Not that many of either, but it's still a rush, knowing somebody actually bought copies!

Happy release day Vicki. Just purchased the album :)

@pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269) : Thank you!!! :-* ;D :)

@montydog : Thank you very much! :) :D ;D

Congrats on a job well done, Vicki! I can't wait to give it a listen. Glad to hear the health issues have cleared.
-
@Jenna (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21074) : Thank you very much! Health issues come and go--mine and other members of the family. Life goes on. I'm learning detachment. :D

@CaliaMoko (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19928) I listened to the first three songs then reached for my wallet - sounds absolutely superb! Really looking forward to sticking my headphones on and enjoying every minute of your album 😀
-
@Bill Saunders (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18525) : Thank you so much for the awesome compliment! ;D :-*

I've got my copy...thanks Vicki!
This is great, folks...a real breath of fresh air.
Highly recommended :)
Congratulations on making it happen...you have every reason to be very proud. Well Done!
-
Thanks so much, Paul. What a nice compliment.
And an update. There's a radio station in northern Minnesota that has a weekly show on Thursdays called Minnesota Homebrew on which they play songs by Minnesota songwriters "from Bob Dylan to Bob Muscovitz" (I know Bob Muscovitz).
Last night they played two songs from my new album. I suppose this means I should be a member of a PRO...
What a rush!
-
That is an AMAZING achievement!! Well done!
You should DEFINITELY join a PRO as you would be owed some $$$ from the played - well, probably more likely a few cents - but definitely a first cheque you could frame!
And don't forget my favourite Minnie songwriter - Prince!!!
-
@Boydie : Thanks. I've heard so many stories about people who never get any money, no matter how much they get played. But then I hear other stories about how happy PRO members are because they DO get paid. I was feeling like it wouldn't make much difference. I do know, though, I will continue to get airplay on this one station. They will play music by anyone from Minnesota, and I expect to have at least one play a month from now one. I guess I could join one and see what happens. It doesn't cost much. If anything. Depending on which one I join.
And...who could ever forget Prince??? :o Or Bob Dylan? Eddie Cochran? Jon Vezner? Most of the rest I've never heard of. Except Kiki Carter. And Ari Herstand.
